Mystery Shopper from Tunbridge Wells

The mystery shopper visited two agencies in Tunbridge Wells on a Thursday afternoon. They then selected a website and a sponsored link from the results of a Google search for “family holiday in Jamaica”

This week’s challenge: The mystery shopper asked for a one week all-inclusive stay in Jamaica in November for two adults and a child aged four. Entertainment for kids was a priority.

CHALLENGE AT A GLANCE. Who:

Seal the deal by Caron MacFarlane, product executive, Caribbean, Virgin Holidays

Shopping: Most visitors head straight to Negril beach, but for a spot of shopping tell clients to head back to the town area where they can pick up great local handcrafted goods.

Budget: £4,000 Where: Jamaica

Nature: Tell more adventurous clients to check out Black River, whose name comes from the darkness of the riverbed. A boat tour is a great way to see the crocs that patrol the waters.

Sun gazing: The best sunset views can be found at Rick’s Cafe in Negril. It’s also great for a local beer and watching adren- aline junkies dive off a 35-foot platform into the water below.

Creature comforts: Virgin Holidays’ v-room caters well for families. The departures lounge at Gatwick offers a soft play area and PlayStations for kids, plus bacon butties for adults.

TTGhas teamed up with React Surveys to simulate a realistic booking process each week – that means a mystery shopper looking for the best deal from agents and operators on the high street, online, on TV or in newspapers. The Mystery Shopper research is carried out on behalf of TTGby React Surveys, and no further details or information can be disclosed. Researchers take into consideration first impression, sales process, product and budget match and extras offered before giving an unbiased opinion of which channel/company they would have booked with on that occasion. We do not claim that the winner is the best in an area or specialist sector, as we may report on competing travel firms in the future. Please note that the aim of Mystery Shopper is not to criticise individual agents or companies, but to promote good sales technique for the benefit of all in the travel trade.
