The final countdown to the TTG Travel Awards 2010 is on. Find out why this year’s event is likely to be the best-dressed yet — and how our judges arrived at their decisions


being set ... now it’s time to start getting ready for travel’s biggest night of the year. Taking place on September 23, this year’s TTG Travel Awards will see 30 prizes handed out to companies and individuals from across travel who have excelled above all others in the past 12 months.

Our unique judging process (see box)combines agent ratings and the opinions of industry experts to ensure that the entrants who have really made their mark more than any other — in the trade and among their customers — will be rewarded. And this year there’s another opportunity to


make a mark on the night too, in the shape of the Chic Style Awards. Sponsored by Bicester Village and Chic Outlet Shopping, the awards will see each and every attendee at the event invited to truly “dress to impress” and bag a fabulous shopping prize.

Helen Peters, Chic Outlet Shopping’s senior tourism man- ager UK & Ireland, said: “We’re inviting people to dress up ele- gantly and stylishly, but with a subtle twist — with something that makes them stand out from the crowd. It will be the person with the “chic” factor, rather than the X factor, who is most


likely to win.” Official photographers at the event will be hunting out the best dressed attendees, and agents will be in- vited to vote for the winner on ttglive.com from the next day, when photos will be posted on the website. Further prizes of £50 Chic Out- let Shopping vouchers will go to four on- line voters picked out at random. And in a further incentive to attend, a powder room busi- ness card drop will see one lucky attendee picked out to receive a visit to one of the other Chic Outlet Shop- ping villages in Europe, which


are sited in travel-friendly locations ranging from Brussels to Barcelona. Peters said that Chic Outlet Shopping is getting further involved with the awards this year to help raise the profile of Bicester Village and the other Chic sites around Europe as


A diamond could be your best friend


A $5,000 diamond pendant, donated courtesy of Bicester Shopping Village boutique Hearts on Fire, will be given away to one very lucky attendee at the TTG Travel Awards.


The glittering pendant will be raffled on the night, with all the proceeds going to the Family Holiday Association charity. Attendees will also be able to have their photo taken with the diamond, in return for a small donation to the charity. The FHA helps more than 1,600 families


take a holiday every year — families who due to their circumstances would not otherwise be able to do so.
