Martinhal open its first city centre family hotel in the trendy area of Chiado in downtown Lisbon, with 37 apartments, kids club with an extended hours pyjama club and family cafe. Belmond Villa San Michele in Florence has launched a new circus academy for kids, where children can join in easy workshops to beome a juggler, clown or tightrope walker for the day. The new Park Hyatt Mallorca has family suites, children’s pool and day centre for younger children. The country club will also provide kids facilities along with a football pitch and tennis courts. A Kids Go Free policy for children up to and including 12 years is offered on accommodation. MarBella Corfu has launched new two-bedroom suites with separate sitting room and private pools with sea and garden views that are perfect for families.
Indian Ocean & Middle East Hideaway Beach Resort and Spa has launched what it claims to be the Maldives’ first floating aqua park, with an obstacle course, open slide and trampoline, all linked by floating pontoons. The resort offers free accommodation for children under 12, complimentary kids’ club access and free babysitting services. Jumeirah’s flagship property, the Burj al Arab in Dubai, famously offers 17 types of pillow, gold iPads worth £4,500 in each room and an army of butlers – but its children’s offering is equally grand. Youngsters are treated to a bespoke bed, bath and beach attire and a personal consultation with the chef to make sure the menus are up to scratch. There’s also a private beach

Sandy Lane’s The Tree House Club in Barbados is an excellent complimentary facility which suits all ages, but has a special programme to entice interest and enthusiasm from even the most disengaged teen, including its own Tennis Academy. Nisbet Plantation Beach Club in Nevis has a range of fun and novel family activities, including crab racing, basket weaving, beach cricket, roasting marshmallows around a beach bonfire or crafting a souvenir from clay at the local pottery.
