P46 P40 P32 This issue features Park World’s

most expansive waterpark coverage for over 10 years, so hopefully there will be something to interest you if you picked up this copy at the WWW Show in Las Vegas.

The 34th annual trade show and symposium from

the World Waterpark Association will include visits to two waterparks that weren’t there last time the event visited “Sin City” in 2012 – making it more relevant to members than ever before. On Monday night (27 October) there’s an optional excursion to the new Cowabunga Bay, then on Wednesday night there’s an official party at Wet ‘n’ Wild.

At one time there was almost as many exhibitors at the WWA event as the entire Euro Attractions Show (EAS) – not bad when you consider almost all of them are focusing on the water leisure industry. In recent years, even a few “dry” ride manufacturers have begun attending in a bid to attract the attention of waterpark owners, designers and operators. Yet for many attendees, it is the comprehensive education programme that remains one of the key draws, and will do again in Vegas.

In Europe, meanwhile, EAS goes from strength to strength, attracting a record 10,750 visitors and 441 exhibitors last month in Amsterdam (see page 25). With all the key industry suppliers participating, you could argue there is no longer any need for any European park operators to travel to the States next month for the show’s larger cousin, IAAPA Attractions Expo. Yet many still will; the lure of Orlando’s world- class attractions and the convenient winter scheduling playing their part. In the meantime, we wish the WWA a great show in Las Vegas – and hope that attendees loose their shirt only at the waterpark or hotel pool.
