the back pocket or belt, my sudden movements left and right of course made the X9 mimic them with a resultant erratic path. Therefore, it simply trained me to walk straight

device correctly, placing it back on the handle thus effectively telling the device not to move, I went to play my shots, returned my club to the bag, returned the remote unit to my pocket and left it alone. At which point the X9 really came into its own. It followed meekly, wherever I went – over rough terrain, across narrow bridges – anywhere I went, it went. I immediately relaxed and played in a more chilled and less stressful manner – infact, I didn’t drop another shot the remainder of the round. The most noticeable difference was the lack

of input required from me. With conventional, forward facing electric trolleys, you are continually forced to have physical input in direction and speed- with the X9 nothing of the sort. It leaves both hands free for you to walk peacefully on- a wonderful bi product on wet and windy days when golfers continually have to wrestle with the umbrella in one hand and the trolley in the other! As far as transporting your clubs around the course is concerned, the game becomes effortless. However, the best I’ll leave until last - Its

and smoothly – when I did; it rolled beautifully! Still not confident of my own ability to use

the X9 as it was intended, I kept switching from using the ‘remote’ function and keeping it in front of me, and the ‘follow’ function. It played havoc with my game as I was concentrating more on the trolley and how best to control it rather than playing golf. That was until the 11th. At which point I decided if I was to conduct a useful product review I should use it the way it was intended and activated ‘follow’ mode once again, trusting the device completely. The effect was amazing. Using the remote

affect on your game once you get used to it is a wonderful thing. I’ve never felt so relaxed on a golf course.

SUMMARY: At a retail price of £1500 the X9 is certainly at

the top end of electric trolley pricing. But it looks great, the build quality is superb, stability is faultless and it reacts instantly to changes in direction. The unique nature of its operating system keeps it at a constant distance from you, even on steep downhill sections it stops obediently behind without running into the backs of your legs.
