COVER STORYSPECIAL FEATURE Touch and SkyPro Putting Maps Out 2014 with Caddies which both solve the issue of pre-loaded courses being out of date with new Bluetooth functionality

Linx Tops Watch Category Heading the brand’s watch category is the

new SkyCaddie Linx (£199.95), which is pre- loaded with 35,000 exclusive ground-verified SkyCaddie maps, and ready-to-play with no annual fees to pay for the lifetime of the product.

Pre-loaded courses may sound great, but they can quickly become obsolete. Linx is Bluetooth-enabled, meaning that users can keep their Linx up-to-date with the latest error-corrected course updates using SkyCaddie’s OnDemand service, via its complementary mobile App (Android and iOS). Linx is available in seven colour-band and bezel options, as well as in classic Black and White.

The sunlight-readable 1.7” Linx screen offers reversed polarity (choice of dark or light background), and gives clear, simple and dynamic readouts of yardages to the front, centre and back of greens, plus SkyCaddie’s proprietary TrueGround Layup Targets throughout the hole. Linx yardages dynamically change, as the golfer’s angle of approach to the green varies.

Golfers can also choose to upgrade their Linx with a nominally priced annual plan to give actual green shapes and precise pin locations with SkyCaddie’s IntelliGreen technology, plus up to 40 additional TrueGround targets to hazards, carries and layups per hole. The upgrade also enables users to synchronise their stats information with SkyCaddie’s online community, or the SkyGolf app for comprehensive analysis tools. Linx also has a host of other golfing features, including digital scorecard, stat tracking, Auto- Course and Auto-Hole Recognition, and Shot Distance Measurement.

Touch is ultimate handset SkyCaddie’s new ultimate GPS handset is

Touch (£329.95), the brand’s most advanced product yet.

SkyCaddie Touch

Preloaded with 35,000 ground-verified and error-corrected maps, with up to 40 targets per hole including layups, hazards and carries, the Touch – as the name suggests – has a glove- friendly touch screen for easy navigation. The large 3” high-resolution, sunlight- readable, glare-resistant colour Touch display brings SkyCaddie’s exclusive maps to life more vibrantly than ever before, with a neat Precision Zoom view which expands any area of the course for closer examination – ideal for improving your course management. Bluetooth means that Touch users do not need to worry about finding a wireless signal or connecting to a computer as they can simply pair their SkyCaddie with their smart phone or tablet, via the complimentary SkyGolf App, to enjoy real-time ‘OnDemand’ course updates as new information enters SkyCaddie’s course mapping database.

SkyCaddie Linx

As well as telling the Time, LINX can set up to five Alarms, and also has fitness functions such as Stopwatch, Odometer and Calories Counter. Its rechargeable lithium-ion polymer battery allows for up to eight hours while using a GPS signal.

As with the Linx, this avoids the obsolescence of pre-loaded courses, and ensures that Touch users have the very latest course information. In another smart innovation, SkyCaddie Touch can also download ‘OnDemand HD’ hole graphics, inspired by Tour yardage books, using a Bluetooth connection to the SkyGolf App on their smartphone. These new ‘HD Graphic’s once again set SkyCaddie apart from rest. As you would expect, Touch offers SkyCaddie’s maximum features set for golfers, including IntelliGreen and IntelliGreen Pro, displaying exact green information; Interactive HoleVue with Zoom, giving golfers the ability to measure ahead to any point on the map; RangeVue yardage arcs, which enable quicker club selection; PinPoint Technology, enabling pin-sheet entry to give accurate yardages to the day’s pin positions; Auto-Course and Auto-Hole Recognition; Shot Distance Measurement; plus the handy Auto-View function, enabling golfers

to quickly see HoleVue, IntelliGreen and the Digital Scorecard with just a flick of the wrist. Touch also enables digital scoring and storage of up to 20 rounds’ statistical data. This can be synchronised to the mobile App, and uploaded via Bluetooth to SkyCaddie’s online community. The features-packed unit also has Step Counter and Pace of Play Timer functions. Touch includes a 12-month Birdie subscription, giving full TrueGround data for all UK and Ireland courses, and users can upgrade to use Europe and Rest of the World maps via SkyCaddie’s nominally priced annual plans.

SkyPro Introduces Putting App

From March 2014, SkyCaddie’s advanced personal swing analyser, SkyPro (£169.95), adds a new Putting Analysis feature to its accompanying App, and the device also features a redesigned, improved user interface. The new putting analysis feature on the SkyPro app allows golfers to perfect their putting stroke and lower their scores immediately by providing instant feedback about club face position, stroke length, tempo and much more.

“With SkyPro, golfers can now use any club to groove their swing or putting stroke at home, on the range, or the practice green all year long, rain or shine,” said Jacqui Surman,

SkyCaddie’s senior vice president international sales and marketing. “SkyPro is also

interactive, allowing

golfers to share instantly with their instructor or friends on Facebook and Twitter.”

Acclaimed teacher Hank Haney says: “SkyPro is revolutionising the way teachers help golfers learn and improve. With the addition of the putting analysis feature, golfers can work on their entire game from tee to green, learning to build good habits during every practice session, not just when they’re working with their teacher. It’s such an effective teaching and practicing tool, that I believe every golfer should be using it if they are serious about improving their game.”
