Clyde & Co named “deal maker of the year” for innovative US$575m bond issue
In April 2013, Clyde & Co advised Sea Trucks Group Ltd (“Sea Trucks”) on a landmark five-year US$575m Norwegian Bond issue, which was not only substantially oversubscribed, but also went from book closure to completion in 11 days.
The Clyde & Co team was led by ship finance partner John Leonida and corporate finance partner Philip Rogers. Clyde & Co managed the discharge of the HBOS loan and a Convertible Bond as well as negotiating the security package for the new Norwegian Bond. Partner Finn Bjørnstad and Jonathan Page of Norwegian firm Wikborg Rein advised on the Norwegian Bond elements.
John Leonida specialises in international marine transactional work and leads the firm’s yacht group. His practice ranges from advising operators in the oil support industry to owners and builders of some of the world’s most notable superyachts.
He also advises on regulatory issues relating to the ownership of ships and has extensive experience in negotiating shipbuilding and ship financing documents. His clients include shipping entrepreneurs, high net-worth individuals, superyacht builders, designers and banks.
John’s recent experience includes:
• Advising on the major expansion of a West African oil service provider in their new buildings programme
• Advising on the design and build of a 120 meter plus luxury superyacht
• Regularly advising owners on shipbuilding refinancings
