During the recent difficult period for open- ended investment funds of several years on managing liquidity, Robert advised many clients on the potential use of redemption restriction mechanisms such as suspension, the use of side pockets (synthetic or otherwise),
investor negotiation and
complete restructurings. He advise a number of funds which facilitated 3rd parties to purchase existing investors’ interests in investment funds as an alternative solution.
Emphasis has been placed on emerging markets, particularly, China and Russia where local fund managers seek to attract global capital within an appropriate legal structure. Robert speaks at various international conferences and regularly contributes articles to international and Cayman Islands publications.
