Footwear Industry Awards T

hose who attended the Footwear Industry Awards event last February will surely agree with me that it was an exciting evening. The 2014 event planned for Sunday 16th February aims

to build on the success of the first Footwear Industry Awards, an event run by the industry for the industry. It also provides opportunity to get together with old friends and new from the footwear trade in a relaxed environment. The venue will be the National Motorcycle Museum, close

to Birmingham NEC, and will take place in the Imperial Suite, with a drinks reception held in the adjoining Waterloo Suite. The nominations are opening this month and there are 23 awards

to be won, so get cracking, fill in the online form and nominate your favourite retailer, agent, or supplier/brand. You can even nominate your own company! In this edition, our exciting Fashion Trends section, produced in

association with Fashion students from Northampton University, brings you a taste of Spring/Summer 2013. The BA (Hons) in Fashion at the University of Northampton attracts a vibrant mix of creative students who can opt to specialise in one of three pathway choices: Fashion Design, Printed Textiles for Fashion or Fashion Footwear & Accessories. In this edition, we also report on some of the amazing trade

shows, including Pure London and Moda that we visited during the summer to give you an idea of what shoemakers are hoping will be flying off your shelves once the January sales are out of the way. We also bring you news of upcoming shows including GDS

Dusseldorf and the Kensington Shoe Event in September, plus an important update on the changing dates of GDS and Micam for next summer (read more on page 8).
