NewProducts High productivity burnisher
Kärcher has announced the launch of its new step-on burnisher, the BDP 50/2000 RS. The new model is con- siderably lighter, more com- pact and more efficient than the model it replaces, with- out compromising perform- ance. The machine features Kärcher’s popular high pro- ductivity step-on driving po- sition, providing the operator with incredible visi- bility, control and productiv- ity, making it one of the
Chemicals: less is more
Cleaning operatives working in a variety of sectors are find- ing they can use less chemicals and get better results, thanks to SYR. The company’s Clear Solution range of deter- gents savemoney and time, while reducing water use, waste and pollution. Among those seeing the benefits are contract cleaners Ex-
clusive, which uses SYR Filtakleen across a major super- market chain. Executive director, Debbie Lancaster, said: “We love Filtakleen; it keeps the mop clean and we don’t have to keep filling the buckets. In large stores we had to change the bucket four or five times, now it does a 30,000 sq ft store in one. As a national contract cleaner we relish the opportunity to look at innovative ideas that can set us apart from the ‘old school’ cleaning processes.” SYR’s UK sales director, Gareth David, said: “You poten-
tially only need to dose once a day as the bucket doesn’t get saturated. Using Filtakleen costs just 12p per dose, per shift. In the average environment, other systems due to dirt satu- ration should have the water in the bucket changed every 30 minutes. That is a cost in terms of labour, chemical and water. Obviously there are also environmental benefits in cutting your use of chemicals and water.” Every time a dirty mop is rinsed in a flocculating detergent
such as Filtakleen, more than 75% of the dirt is separated out and drops to the bottom of the bucket within 45 seconds - so the water being used remains cleaner. Themop head is also cleaned each time it returns to the bucket.

safest andmost productive floorcare machines avail- able. The machine features a
50cm polishing width with automatic head lowering and raising. High performance maintenance-free batteries and an on-board charger provide convenience, whilst the integrated dust pick-up system is easy and safe to empty and leaves floors dust-free. Kärcher’s professional
product manager, Jeff Hilton, said: “With this new model, we continue to de- velopmore efficient, higher valuemachines that don’t compromise when it comes to performance. Although a step-on or ride-on machine would usually be used for larger floor areas, the 50/2000’s compactness and performance - combined with the step-on driving po- sition - means it can be used for just about any sized area, from classrooms to lobbies and large halls.”

Clinical waste range extended
Cromwell Polythene has extended its clinical waste range with the introduction of a thinner gauge sack, fully compliant with the European agreement concerning the international carriage of dangerous goods by road (ADR). The orange sacks are for the collection and disposal of infectious and potentially infec- tious waste by a licensed or permitted facility. The 40 micron bag, which has a 90 litre capacity and 11kg
design weight, has passed all the tests for bulk transport, in- cluding the additional dart impact and tear resistance tests. In addition, the use of star seal technology has facilitated a less formed shape, maximising carrying capacity and optimising leak resistance.
