MAKING SENSE OF FASHION & FENG SHUI

In later announcements however, she clarified that in addition to settling in the UK and providing ideal educational opportunities for the growing Allen children, she wanted to concentrate on diversifying and globalizing her practice through the creation of a brand new fashion line named Frigga. And yes, she confirmed that she would run this new global venture simultaneously with her feng shui merchandising operations, media and consultancy activities, while also managing her home in England. To many Filipinos who have been

used to associating feng shui with the Chinese New Year and lucky charms, the connection between fashion and feng shui was not easy to see. But then Marites is not one to pursue her passions unprepared. In a recent interview, she reveals her reason to launch Frigga, while emphasising that fashion and feng shui are no strange bedfellows. Beauty and fashion, according to Marites, are deeply rooted in feng shui principles. With

proper application, such principles can spell the difference between merely being fashionable and being auspiciously fashionable. Indeed, Marites firstly equipped


herself by completing fashion courses at the London College of Fashion on Oxford Street, one of the UK’s predominant fashion schools.


She


has also assigned a team of London’s top fashion designers to fully develop and launch the Frigga fashion brand. For 2014, this is to include an exciting line of clothing and accessories comprising beautiful and authentic fabrics, with plain pieces as well as elaborate symbols and patterns, all linked closely to next year’s fashion colours and trends currently being devised in London’s fashion houses. As the first fashion line to professionally incorporate feng shui principles, the Frigga brand is already causing excitement among certain fashion designers, especially since it represents a completely new and refreshing ‘fashion DNA’.

Slowly but surely, my team and I did our research until finally I came up with the name Frigga who, as you might know by now, is the Norse goddess of prophecy and destiny.
