this world, but a special emanation of the Gods. To the Hindus, seeing an elephant in the wild is an auspicious sign – akin to receiving a direct omen of goodwill from Lord Ganesha himself. Lord Ganesha is the Hindu elephant-headed God and is worshipped as a supreme deity across India. Also known as Ganapati, Lord Ganesha is the patron Deity of Wisdom and Wealth to many Indians. He is as beloved as supreme devas like Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma, mainly because Ganesha is believed to bring prosperity and abundance. Hindu legends place Ganesha as the son of Lord Shiva and Parvati, and many turn to him as the Remover of Obstacles and the Bringer of Success Luck. Tere is a very famous Ganesha temple near Jalan Pudu in Kuala Lumpur, where devoted Malaysian Hindu practitioners travel from afar to offer milk to Ganesha to ask for help in solving problems, mainly of a financial nature. great significance in Buddhism. In the sutras, Lord Buddha tells many stories of his incarnation as a White Elephant. Buddha’s mother was said to have dreamt of a White Elephant the night before giving birth to him, as the White Elephant was his last life as an animal before his human rebirth. To believers of high yogic practices, the White Elephant represents the attainment of Shamatha – the supreme stage of the nine stages of meditative concentration. Shamatha, also known as dhyana is the highest level of single-pointed concentration – the point where the mind is completely stilled by one’s willpower, a mind-state that allows the soul-consciousness to merge with the universe. In this state of consciousness, one can experience true omniscience, where everything one desires becomes possible!
