TRAINING AND SKILLS
Taking the training industry bystorm
Intertrain has been delivering training to the rail industry since 1997. Working with some of the largest companies in the sector such as Volker, Network Rail, Amey and Babcock, Intertrain has developed relationships across the UK, says NCCA co-ordinator Julie Wright.
Venues I
nitially based in York, Intertrain has now expanded to Doncaster, London, Chesterfi eld and Burton on Trent, and has recently opened new venues at Birmingham and Gateshead. All sites have fully equipped classrooms providing an effective learning experience from our courses.
Chesterfi eld, Burton and Gateshead also have facilities to provide practical training such as Crane Controller, Small Tools, Plant and Technical courses in a realistic environment.
With well-established links in the rail industry, and venues in some of the UK’s major cities, Intertrain is poised to take the training industry by storm.
Online booking system
Our innovative online booking system enables the client to take control of their own training requirements and our dedicated team of training co-ordinators means there is always someone here who can answer your queries.
Registering for online bookings takes minutes and rules out the requirement for lengthy paper trails. Clients are able to see a list of our open courses and fi lter by competence or venue. After booking a candidate onto a course, the client will be presented with a pro-forma which allows them to acknowledge the costs relating to their booking.
Apprenticeships Intertrain is a City & Guilds approved centre
for Level 2 Apprenticeships and NVQ’s in Rail Engineering Track Maintenance. Our programmes are currently being run in Gateshead, Doncaster, Birmingham, Chelmsford, Burton on Trent/Derby, Leeds and Peterborough.
Apprentices can help to fi ll your skill gap and motivate your existing workforce with their fl exibility, eagerness and loyalty to the company. Intertrain initially prepare the apprentices by putting them through their Track Induction, developing their training in line with the employers requirements.

Quality of training S
Fiona Baggley of Scot-Train discusses the company’s success in the NSARE inspections.
cot-Train is a fully-licensed provider of Network Rail Training and Assessment
Courses, from Personal Track Safety (PTS) training up to and including Senior Person In Charge Of Possession (SPICOP) training.
The organisation hosts a wide range of courses carried out at bespoke training facilities across the UK in convenient central locations. We
are ARTP (Association of Railway Training Providers) approved and Network Rail licensed to provide rail training services, and we are also a one-stop facility for all rail courses and are also able to carry out any other required medical, drug and alcohol screening.
Railway training and management development courses can also be specifi cally designed to meet clients’ requirements and as all of our trainers worked and trained in the railway environment prior to their current role, they therefore bring a wealth of practical hands-on experience to the trainees they now teach and instruct.
Clients choose Scot-Train because of our broad range of knowledge and experience along with our competitive pricing structure. We have high success rates and provide comprehensive assistance to trainees at every stage of their learning which can help them in their career development.
The quality of training on offer draws plaudits from many quarters. The professionalism and skills of the Scot-Train team is frequently
recognised at national level, with a number of accreditations and awards to its name, including most recently when the organisation was awarded ‘Outstanding Training Provider’ in summer 2012 by the National Skills Academy for Railway Engineering.
This was no mean feat, especially when you consider that Scot-Train was one of only six companies in the UK to have obtained ‘outstanding’ status within a very competitive training market place. It is also a very clear indicator of the management’s commitment to continuous improvement.
Gerry Cockram, manager of Scot-Train, is delighted with this most recent accolade as he continues to drive the performance levels of his team forward and focuses on further improving the quality of the service provided, ensuring that all trainees passing through the training school are given the best levels of training available anywhere within the UK.
