which includes four 1350 Kv brushless mo- tors, four 30A ESCs with finned heatsinks, counter rotating propellers, electronic servo- less retracts and split flaps. The airplane has much more than scale power and can be flown around in an extremely non-scale fash- ion. With some throttle management the air- plane can be flown in a scale manner and, with two 2200 mAh 11.1V batteries (not in- cluded), flight times can easily exceed 10 minutes. Hitec RCD Inc.’s

With up to 1000 watts of total charging power the T1430C is equipped to charge, discharge and cycle a variety of 1–14S Li-Po, Li-Ion and Li- Fe (A123) batteries, as well as 1–40 cell Ni- Cd and Ni-MH batteries along with 6–48V Pb (lead-acid) batteries. The built-in 2–14S Li- Po/Li-Ion/Li-Fe (A123) cell balancer and in- cluded balance connector adapter board are readily compatible with Thunder Power bal- ance connectors and the JST-XH balance con- nectors found on most other batteries. The TP1430C is capable of charging at rates up to 30 amps offering the ability to charge many of the latest generation Li-Po batteries at ul- tra-fast rates up to 6C and beyond. Thunder Power RC’s new Li-Po Safe Charging and Storage bags are shaped just right to safely charge and store your battery packs. TnT Landing Gear

gear.com brought plenty of electric excite- ment to Central Catholic High School on Friday and Saturday nights sponsoring Ex-Games, Blade Micro Challenge, Micro Fly and the ETOC, which was won by Ger- not Bruckman. If all that is not enough there is a great swap shop to spend endless hours walking through looking for that di-
amond in the rough. Hope to see you there next year.
Readers Write Tom Fey’s Focke Wulf FW-190D was de-
signed by Gus Morfis. You may remember I used Gus’s B-36 slope soar plan for a pow- ered version of that plane years back. The FW-190D spans 32.5 inches with 182 square inches of wing area, weighing 21 ounces with a wing loading of 16.6 ounces/square
foot. Power is a True R/C 1500 Kv outrun- ner spinning an APC 7–5 on eight 1.2 mAh Ni-MH cells for 105 watts. Tom reports spir- ited performance and that he may do a fu- ture construction project on the design.
Project Update The ¼ scale Piper Tri-Pacer, built from
Vince Miller plans available from Calvin’s Classic Plans
www.calvinsclassicplans.com, was fitted with a Tru-Turn
www.tru-turn. com 3-inch FAI red anodized spinner which ran perfect from the first test run-up. Tru- Turn can fit spinners for most all e-power needs. With the model completed and the c.g. set, the power system/electronics were run twice a day for about a week, looking and listening for anything out of the ordi- nary. All connections were checked and the receiver re-bound. The power system con- nections are many times user soldered and should be “perfect” or redone. Test flight next time. Fly safely!
The Gus Morfis designed, and Tom Fey built FW-190D (above), flies as good as it looks. Construction is simple and straightforward which is a Gus Morfis trademark. The ¼ scale Piper Tri-Pacer,ready for flight, (at right) gets a range check and all multiple system checks before its first flight to prevent any mishaps on the big day.
