Getting on track with new tags

The new Tracker Tag range from cable management company, HellermannTyton, has been introduced to enable users to manage equipment or assets requiring periodic inspections on-site, while recording when the activity is executed.

These printable tags fasten them- selves to the required equipment and have been developed with the help of customer feedback. At the time of launch, one size will be available, the TRAK- TAG25X190, which will be fol- lowed by other versions with a maximum length of 190mm. The Tracker Tags feature a specifi- cally designed fixing head which allows rapid fastening of the tags to themselves and to the item requiring identification. The tags can be custom printed on HellermanTyton’s TT4000+ printing system, and also come in a range of colours to help cus- tomers with easy recognition. To increase the performance capabilities from a single component, Adaptaflex has introduced its new Adaptalok ATS. Fast to fit and easy to remove using the Adaptalok removal tool, Adaptalok ATS meets all IP requirements and specifications in a one piece fitting. The single piece fitting means that installation times are reduced and there is no risk of losing component parts, which might com- promise a conduit system’s sealing and integrity. As the conduit seal and face washer are an integral part of the fit- ting, the IP68 (4 bar) ratings can be achieved by a simple ‘push and

twist - pull’ installation process which requires no tools. Adaptalok ATS fittings are available in sizes from 13mm to 54mm and in straight, 90° elbow and 45° elbow formats, with fixed or swivel nylon or metal thread options. Typical applications include those within the rail industry where Adaptalok ATS can be used on rail vehicles, bogies and for trackside applications. As well as providing cable protection, the Adaptalok ATS system exceeds the requirements of long life vibration testing required for rail standards.

For marine applications, Adaptalok ATS also has Lloyd’s Register Marine Type Approval across the range. When used for the enclosure and protection of critical power and data cabling and fibre optics, the flexible conduit systems are covered for use in marine, offshore and general applications under the Lloyd’s listing for electrical equip- ment enclosure systems, Part 1B, Certificate number 95/00092(E4). The range has full low fire hazard capability, so is suitable for a wide range of uses on workboats, ships, yachts, general marine, dockyard and offshore installations. Handheld printer for everyday labelling A new portable labelling

machine has recently been added to 3M’s range of cable wire mark- ing products. Manufactured by Dymo, the PL150 Handheld Label Printer is designed as an everyday unit for all common electrical labelling requirements. Features of the PL150 include a QWERTY keyboard and naviga- tion keys, which makes it easy to scroll between options. Together with one-touch formatting keys, these features allow electricians to quickly create different labelling formats, including wire or cable wraps, flags, Code 39

and Code 128 barcodes, fixed length labels and breaker labels. A ‘Favourites’ button repeats frequent label styles, and a ‘Custom’ key enables the user to create label formats which can be saved for future use. A backlit LCD screen means the printer can be used in environments where available light is poor.

Labels can be printed on flexi- ble nylon, permanent polyester and vinyl materials, in compli- ance with ANSI and ISO colour standards. The PL150 Handheld Label Printer also supports direct printing onto heat shrink tubes.

The printer is designed for use with either AA batteries or a Li- Ion battery for prolonged periods of use, while rubber bumpers enhance durability. 3M www.3m.co.uk T: 01491 412 944

A cable rod set is a vital tool for installing cable in hard to access areas. However, further issues can arise when there are obstacles such as wooden joists obstruct- ing the cable run. In order to tackle this

A new range of QSFP+ and SFP+ cable assemblies have been introduced by HARTING which can support data transmis- sion speeds of up to 40Gbit/s. In addition to standard cable assemblies with cable sizes from AWG 24 to AWG 30, HARTING offers customised solutions including units with EEPROM programming.

Overmoulding of the PCB ensures

secure strain relief and provides robust assemblies for use in IP20 environments such as cabinets and control rooms.

Another key feature of these products is the short QSFP+ back shell, which makes the cable assembly well suited to applications where space is limited. No additional assembly is required, saving time and money compared to the use of individual piece parts and their associated tooling. All

problem, cable management company Super Rod has launched its new Flexi Drill Kit which allows the user to easily drill through noggins, joists and wooden obstructions. Its flexibil- ity allows it to pass into wall and floor spaces through tight access holes. The drill kit gives the user control over direction and pres- sure, whilst the guide ball keeps the drill head perfectly centered within the wall space.

Commenting on the Flexi Drill Kit, managing director of Super Rod, Malcolm Duncan,

said, “Electricians rely on our rod products to route cable, but they have always struggled when they encounter a joist blocking the route, until now. We listened to market feedback and developed a practical solu- tion to overcome the problem. The Flexi Drill Kit will save so much time and frustration, we know it will make a huge differ- ence to installers - it will also help reduce disruption to the worksite, which will keep our customers’ clients happy.” Super Rod www.super-rod.co.uk T: 01495 792 000
