Products Cabling Taking cabling to the next level
Brand-Rex has recently announced further advances in fibre optic cabling with the release of its new MT Connect SuperSet solution, a pre-terminated, modular sys- tem based on mechanical transfer push-on (MTP) ferrule connector technology. Part of the company’s FibrePlus portfo- lio, MT Connect SuperSet provides a reli- able foundation for today’s Ethernet, Fibre Channel and Infiniband technologies and can future-proof the physical network infra- structure for the emerging 40 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet transmission speeds. Although it can be used in the enterprise backbone, it is well suited for installation in data centres, where multiple, point to point fibre connections between racks can be quickly and efficiently installed, main- tained and changed. The set comprises fibre optic cables and patch cords, ultra-high density panels, connectors, assemblies, faceplates and adaptors. These standards compliant com-
ponents maintain the integrity of the trans- mission line, supporting the requirements of higher speed technologies. They are also designed and manufactured to conform to the ISO/IEC 11801, EN 50173-1 and TIA 568C structured cabling standards, as well as the IEC 24764, EN 50173-5 and TIA 942 data centre cabling standards. Utilising MTP technology, the connec- tor is a multi-fibre ferrule product that accommodates up to 12 fibres in a single row and 24 fibres in dual rows. Low loss of the MTP is facilitated by alignment of the fibre array using a pair of metal guide pins in the male MTP connector, which mate with corresponding holes in the female MTP connector. It also uses a simple push-pull latching mechanism for easy insertion and removal.
On-site installation does not always lend itself to a high performance network and the smallest speck of dust or dirt can have a huge impact on how well a fibre optic-based system will perform. Pre-termination eliminates this problem as the module cassettes are made in clean, static-free factory conditions with all the necessary testing equipment and tooling to ensure that every port per- forms to the necessary standard. Enter 203 Dedicated website for new cables
A new range of low smoke zero halogen (LSOH) cables has recently been introduced by Prysmian, and with it, the company has also launched a new website,
www.afumexcables.co.uk, that is dedicated to the range.
The new portal is the source of information for Afumex 6491B, Afumex 6242B, Afumex BS6742 and Afumex LSX. The range is specifically designed for use in today’s modern buildings in place of the standard PVC cabling, which can be extremely hazardous in the event of fire.
In the early stages of a fire, the primary danger is not flame but toxic gas, and lethal conditions can arise in buildings in as little as three minutes after fire breaks out. It therefore makes sense to use a cable that does not give off haz- ardous gas, smoke or that con- tributes to flame spread.
In addition, according to the Approved Cables Initiative (ACI), 27% of all UK fires are attributed to faulty wiring and cabling, and 20% of all cables within the UK supply chain are unsafe, unap- proved or fraudulent.
Afumex cables are proven E-ChainSystems® Energy Chains® , cables, plugs etc. ... 70,000 products
available. Ready-made and ready to use. Ask for your free catalogue or sample today!
LSOH flame retardant cables that meet or exceed the cable construction standard, the low smoke standard, the zero halo- gen standard and the flame retardant standard.
The Afumex range provides resistance to ignition and flame spread, producing low levels of smoke and virtually no acidic gases when burnt, thus safeguard- ing human life and protecting buildings and equipment. Content accessible on the new website includes data sheets, technical papers, ERA test reports, articles, details of associ- ated Afumex components, BASEC certificates and informa- tion for technical submissions.
