Products Cases & enclosures Housings designed for small electronic devices
Moulded in off-white RAL 9002 ABS (UL 94 HB) plastic, OKW’s Shell-Type enclosures have been designed to house small electronic devices such as test and measurement, medical and wellness, peripherals, interfaces and switching equipment. There are three types available: Type V with a single front panel aperture, Type O with two front panel apertures, and Type G which is closed with no front panel apertures. The latter has a recessed top moulding for fitting a membrane keypad or product label, and will also accept a gasket for sealing up to IP65.
There are four standard plan sizes and six standard heights, with external dimensions ranging from 85 x 45 x 22mm to 190 x 38 x 91mm; and there are three different battery compartments, each with a clip-on external access lid. The enclosures can also be fitted with nickel plated steel spring battery contacts which conform to DIN EN 60601 and are designed to avoid short circuit if the batteries are inserted incorrectly. OKW

demanding areas A new modular subrack for use in demanding environments – such as military systems, on aircraft, close to rotating machinery or in power genera- tion applications – has been added to Schroff’s europacPRO range. Stronger side panels, reinforced horizontal rails, 19in brackets and corner profiles mean the new subrack is able to achieve a shock resistance up to 25g. Standard guide rails can be used in the ruggedised subrack, and where necessary these can be bolted to the horizontal rails. There are also ductings to accept Card-Loks or clamshells in 0.8in intervals, and special cover plates reduce noise caused by vibration. Schroff T: 01442 218726

Range now offers a variety of sizes
The robust Euronord enclosure range from Fibox is now available in 22 additional sizes ranging from 50 x 45 x 32 to 600 x 310 x 180mm.
The range is
produced using the latest vacuum die cast technology, which eliminates the possibility of air pockets, and now features products with perpendicular walls which prevents draught angles, thus offering an attractive option for enclosures that need to be sequentially mounted.

Nine new sizes expand enclosure family
Nine new sizes have been added to the 1550 family of small die-cast aluminium enclosures from Hammond Electronics. Benefits of the range include
robust mechanical protection and good EMC attenuation levels. According to the company, the tapped holes and machine screws used to secure the lid make them particularly suitable where interior access will be required on a regular basis.
There are two versions avail-
able – standard and watertight – and sizes range from 60 x 55 x 26mm to 275 x 175 x 63mm. The standard units are sealed to IP54; and the 1550W watertight versions are supplied with a separate compressible self- adhesive gasket which, when fitted between the lid and the base, provides dust and water sealing to IP66, enabling them to be used in both benign and hostile environments. extra pods have been added for flexibility.
The Euronord PC/ABS range has also been com- pletely re-tooled and now offers end users a choice of 18 footprint sizes plus various height options with quick release cover screw options, in addition to standard screw versions.
Fibox has also added five new sizes to the smaller end of the popular Tempo series. These enclosures feature the option of knock outs and free cover reten- tion hinges on all sizes. Fibox T: 01642 604400
Industrial grade cabinets launched A range of rugged welded steel
industrial grade cabinets has been released by Amplicon that is suitable for housing the company’s industrial rackmount computers, data communication and test equipment.
These are available in heights up to 45U and depths to 1200mm, potentially allowing up to 45U of rackmount equipment to be consolidated into a 600 x 600mm footprint. Mesh doors provide optimal airflow. The range can be supplied as a fully integrated ‘turn key’ solution, ready for use, or as a versatile starter kit with every- thing the user needs including power distribution, cable man- agement and fixings. Metal housing protects wireless nodes A compact metal housing,
rated for Class I, Division 1* hazardous locations, has been introduced by Banner Engineering for its intrinsi- cally safe DX99 Wireless Node product line.
The Node is designed to
provide power to the sensors within hazardous areas, and has an integrated battery power supply that produces an intrinsically safe (IS)
power source for the radio transceiver and external third party sensors. According to the company, with the new housing, the Node is more versatile while maintaining its convenient single chamber design – placing the battery, wiring terminal and radio together for easy mounting and connection to sensors. DX99 Nodes create a secure and reliable wireless network and have features such as a built-in Site Survey tool that allows the installer to easily determine the quality of the wireless link. They also offer a combination of input options including discrete, analog, thermocouple and RTD. DX99 Node radios transmit and receive wireless data up to three miles – 150mw with 2dBi antenna – while consuming very little power. Banner Engineering
