Products Cases & enclosures

Safely testing electrical products Intertec has introduced a range of highly insulated outdoor enclosures to protect larger-scale instrumentation installations. The BASIC VARIO range of wall- or floor-mounting enclosures is made using the company’s sandwich-construction technique, with GRP (glass reinforced poly- ester) skins enclosing a thick layer of insulating foam. This results in a thermal conductivity or 'k' value rating of ~1.5W/m2K, efficiently protecting against frost and con- densation and/or providing regu- lated temperature environments for sensitive field instrumentation. In addition, the long fibre reinforced grades of GRP sheeting employed by Intertec provides great structural strength that almost matches stainless steel – for just a quarter of the weight. As standard, these are rectangular- shaped in three sizes: 105 x 64cm,105 x 84cm or 105 x 104 cm (41.3 x 25.2in, 41.3 x 33.1in or 41.3 x 40.9in),with a depth of 35cm (13.8in). These deliver a range of volumes that sit between the typical upper limits of many field instrument enclosure ranges

To enable the safe and controlled electrical testing of products in compliance with EN50191, Seaward Electronic has launched the Clare Visor electrical safety test enclosures. Available in two standard sizes, these are manufactured in heavy duty insulating plastic and have a special pallet system to allow the fast and simple insertion of different fixtures to accommodate the testing of appliances and electrical/electronic devices. A wide field of view is provided by its large clear visor, and a counterbalance lift mechanism provides fast access to the equipment being tested with minimal operator effort.

The enclosures can be fully interfaced with electrical testing instrumentation for automated production line routines and can also be incorporated in laboratory-type environments for testing during product design and development stages. They are supplied fully wired, fully interlocked and can provide an out of the box solution which specifies safe working conditions for electrical testing.

and the smaller sizes of many outdoor cabinets; and are large enough to accommodate several field process transmitters. Custom sizes can also be produced. Additional features include IP65 ingress protection, with Type 4X pending approval, a large hinged door (with or without windows), flexible tube and cable entry, and they have flat exterior surfaces and are free of any overhanging edges, allowing enclosures to be packed side by side or on top of each other.
