Take yourself back in time to the cinema of yesteryear at the beautifully preserved Alhambra Cinema. Sink into the deep red velvet seats and enjoy the latest movies or discover the international gems that the film club bring to town early on Sunday evenings, or the Monday alternative.

Theatre by the Lake presents six professional plays between May and November as well as one in the Spring and a family show at Christmas. It has a year round programme of drama, dance, music, film and lectures as well as hosting the annual Words by the Water and other festival events.
Or lose yourself in one of the town’s art galleries. Whether you love painting, sculpture, hand-crafted jewellery or photography, there is a wide range of artists’ work on display.

This is the home of dock- worker Eddie Carbone, his wife Beatrice and their beautiful niece Catherine. Times are hard and when the family takes in two illegal immigrants Eddie falls into the grip of an irresistible passion that leads to terrible crimes. Based on a true story, which also inspired the movie On the Waterfront, this is an award-winning American classic by the late, great Arthur Miller.
