The La Jolla Playhouse is a Tony Award-winning regional theater known for its productions of classics, new plays and musicals. Located on La Jolla Village Drive, the theater also houses JAI by Wolfgang Puck, serving dinner on performance nights. Productions are scheduled throughout the year.

With almost 100 golf courses in San Diego, there are plenty of course options. Many of the layouts command top dollar but value can be found around the area.

Coronado Golf Course on the San Diego Harbor offers regular

green fees for $35 on the weekend and as little as $15 for twilight. Balboa Park and Mission Bay are two other low-cost options.

Just north of La Jolla is the golf equipment capital of the United States. More than 15 golf companies reside within a 50-mile stretch around La Jolla, most notably industry leaders TaylorMade, Acushnet and Callaway just up the road in Carlsbad. The competitive setting enjoys perpetually sunny weather perfect for testing products.

TORREY PINES STATE RESERVE, just north of the golf course, is a terrifi c place to hike. Sections of trails parallel edges of cliffs high above the Pacifi c and several viewing platforms make for excellent spots to watch dolphins and the yearly winter migration of gray whales. The unique Torrey Pine is one of the rarest pine trees in the world, its austere contorted appearance shaped by high coastal winds. The 2000-acre reserve is open for day-use only, and a museum located at the visitor center serves as an excellent introduction to the park’s natural history.
