“TITUS ANDRONICUS” Friday-Oct. 31 “Titus Andronicus,” Shakespeare’s early-career, blood-soaked tragedy, can be a bracing experience when performed from the stage. But the Chesapeake Shakespeare Company takes it one step further with a staging of “Titus” in which the titular Roman general goes to war against the Queen of the Goths amid the remains of the Patapsco Female Institute’s Historic Park. Bring a flashlight, wear comfortable shoes and plan to walk: The audience will follow the actors through the ruins. Patapsco Female Institute Historic Park, 3691 Sarah’s Lane, Ellicott City. 410-313-8874. www.chesapeakeshake speare.com. $15-$30.

BOB SAGET Friday

Admittedly, “Full House” hasn’t been relevant for 15 years, but time hasn’t reduced the shock that comes from hearing the sky-blue material of the longtime Danny Tanner actor. Then again, that disconnect is what makes Bob Saget’s act so devastatingly funny, even if a part of us still impulsively wants to reach for the earmuffs. 8 p.m. Warner Theatre, 13th and E streets NW (Metro: Metro Center). 202-783-4000. www.warnertheatre.com. $37.50.

“TRUTHBEAUTY: PICTORIALISM AND THE PHOTOGRAPH AS ART, 1845-1945” Saturday-Jan. 9 What impressionism did for painting, pictorialism did for photography. “TruthBeauty” is a 130-photograph snapshot of a new artistic era, when such photographers as Julia Margaret Cameron, Alfred Stieglitz and Alvin Langdon Coburn began to embed their own imaginations and artistic sensibilities into the rendering of a subject, rather than simply capturing the subject’s literal appearance. Phillips Collection, 1600 21st St. NW (Metro: Dupont Circle). 202-387-2151. www.phillipscollection. org. $12; $10 age 62 and older and students; free for age 18 and younger.

DISTRICT FLAVORS: A LOCAL FOOD BLOCK PARTY Sunday FREE There’s a different food-centric block party just about every weekend this time of year (Taste of Georgetown, for example, is Saturday). But rather than highlight the bevy of food options available in a city neighborhood, District Flavors is calling attention to the city’s “food deserts,” areas where residents don’t have easy access to affordable, healthy food options. The event brings in local chefs and musicians for a locally sourced, food-centric block party from noon to 4 p.m. Bread for the City, 1525 7th St. NW. 202-265-2400. www. breadforthecity.org.

ROGER WATERS: THE WALL LIVE Sunday “The Wall” is coming to Washington on Sunday, and no, we’re not talking about John Wall of the Washington Wizards. Instead it’s Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters, who will perform the English band’s seminal 1979 double album in its entirety, whether or not the rest of his former Pink Floyd band-mates are happy about it. Doors open at 7 p.m. Verizon Center, 601 F St. NW (Metro: Gallery Place). 202-628-3200. www.verizoncenter.com. $53-$253.

GORILLAZ Monday

Damon Albarn’s Gorillaz came into existence as a cartoon band, releasing two full-length albums (2001’s “Gorillaz” and 2005’s “Demon Days”) while adopting simian alter-egos, designed by illustrator Jamie Hewlett. But as the band embarks on its first world tour, in support of 2010’s “Plastic Beach,” it’s ditching the cartoon facade, and for good reason: Joining ex-Blur frontman Albarn are Clash veterans Paul Simonon and Mick Jones, additions that should give the band’s swirling, morose compositions an extra kick. With N.E.R.D. 7:30 p.m. George Mason University, Patriot Center, 4500 Patriot Cir., Fairfax. 202-397-7328, 703-993-3000. www.patriotcenter.com. $49.50-$90.

“A FOX ON THE FAIRWAY” Tuesday-Nov. 14 A stuffy, private country club gets turned upside-down in Ken Ludwig’s screwball comedy that pays winking homage to the pratfalls of mid-20th-century English farces. The “Crazy for You” writer’s world premiere has another thing going for it: Holly Twyford, who returns to Signature on the heels of 2009’s “The Little Dog Laughed.” Signature Theatre, 4200 Campbell Ave., Arlington. 703-820-9771. 703-573-7328. www.signature-theatre. org. $50-$76.

GO-GO: NOT AN INTRO Wednesday FREE New to the area? The D.C. Music Salon’s “Go-Go: Not an Intro” seminar should be mandatory for anyone interested in finding Washington’s true cultural soul. Go-go scholar Kip Lornell discusses “The Beat: Go-Go’s Fusion of Funk and Hip-Hop,” and clips of the cult-favorite go-go film “Good to Go” will familiarize newbies

with the sounds of Trouble Funk and Chuck Brown. 7 to 9 p.m.Watha T. Daniel-Shaw Neighborhood Library, 1630 Seventh St. NW. 202-727-1288. www.dclibrary.org/watha. — Alex Baldinger

IT’S FREE!

STORY/STEREO Friday By now, you know the drill: Story/Stereo brings together words and music at the Writer’s Center in Bethesda, with authors reading passages from recent works while local musicians perform short, intimate sets. What’s different this time is that instead of a rock band or singer-songwriter, the musical performer is DJ Will Eastman, who you’ve probably never seen beyond the confines of a darkened Black Cat or U Street Music Hall. The performance begins at 8 p.m. The Writer’s Center, 4508 Walsh St., Bethesda. 301-654-8664. www.writer.org.
