GREG SUTTON Risk and Reward A Sanke selection with Koi UK
Greg Sutton joined Maurice Cox of Koi UK to find out how the Sanke which were first featured in the February 2010 issue have developed…

Netting the pond for the fi rst time since the last selection
following a koi selection process from the harvest of few months old Tosai through to Nisai. The koi, as readers will know, were Sanke bred from Momotaro/Koi UK parents back in June 2009 by Maurice Cox. During my visit Maurice very bravely selected what he felt were the top ten at that time. egular readers of Koi Carp Magazine will remember that, back in November 2009, I visited Koi UK to begin this journey of
mudponds through to Nisai and harvested in October 2010.
Amazingly I have developed quite an attachment to these koi even though I donÕt own any of them. I can only put it down to seeing their development and progress at different stages, and the excitement of the update.
arriving at Koi UK It was March 27 when my wife Nadine and I
left for Weston-Super-Mare and our arranged meeting with Maurice and Lynn. To top it all it was NadineÕs birthday weekend and sheÕd allowed me to drag her here Ð however I suspected ulterior motives as she was keen to see how koi number nine, which somehow gained the nickname ÔGregaline,Õ had fared over winter. We arrived to the usual cheery greeting
and, after a quick cuppa, got to work netting and selecting through the koi. I quizzed Maurice about how they had been looked after since I last saw themÉ
