JEN ADAMS

The greatest player in women’s lacrosse history crushes pregame jitters with virtual candy

What’s one thing you can’t live without? Airplanes. Without them, I could not travel between my worlds like I do.

What’s one thing that always puts you in a good mood? Seeing and talking to my nieces Tay and Jade back home in Australia. They are the cutest, most beautiful, bright and happy little people around.

What’s the most played song on your favorite playlist? Animal by Miike Snow. I like the catchy and fun beat.

What’s been the proudest moment of your career? The proudest moment of my career is that this is my career. I appreciate the opportunities I have been given to be able to coach the game of lacrosse as a profession [at Loyola].

Do you have any pregame rituals?

During big periods of down time when the team is preparing in the locker room, I become a bit of a phone game addict — Candy Crush, Slingo, Farm Heroes Saga. It’s embarrassing, but true.

If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? I would learn to sing so that when the team tries to get me to sing on bus rides, I would belt out some ridiculous aisle concert and silence them. Showers and driving would obviously be more pleasant with killer vocals, too.

What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?

I recently got into a cheetah enclosure while in South Africa. That was one angry cat and it

quickly became evident that he did not want us in there. Let’s just say I exited far quicker than I entered.

Overtime (from Bayhawks midfielder Dan Burns) What would be the last song you would want to hear before a game? “Holy Grail” by Hunters & Collectors. A little unorthodox, as it is a little bit more mellow, but it actually fires me up. It was our theme song to our 2005 Aussie team and holds special meaning for me, not to mention an ode to a homegrown Aussie rock band.

CASEY’S TAKE

Double Overtime (from Sabrina Leatherwood, North Potomac, Md.) What is your favorite memory of lacrosse growing up and why? Playing on the field alongside my sister [Trish]. I was fortunate enough to play and win a gold medal with the U19 Australian team with her, and that will always be one of my fondest lacrosse memories of growing up.

Pose a question for our next subject. If you were a professional wrestler, what would your ring name be?

Jen Adams hosted me on a trip to Perth, Australia. We watched cricket in Adelaide and did a Powell Brothers wall ball and shooting demo for Brighton Lacrosse Club.
