Q+A LOS ANGELES

PAUL BRIEN • BBA ’95 As a former student and Rambler Club leader, I enjoy contributing my time coordinating and participat- ing in events for my fellow alumni. These events are opportunities to network, share our journeys, and foster relationships with fellow busi- ness leaders of today.

FUN FACT • I grew up in Rhode Island, a state the size of the county I live in today—Orange County, Cali- fornia. Rhode Island has a popula- tion of 1 million to Orange County’s 3 million.

VICTORIA GUASCO • BBA ’87 I enjoy welcoming alumni members, and I’m dedicated to strengthening the alumni community. Whether you want to meet new people, recon- nect with fellow alums, or explore great local activities, we have some- thing for everyone.

FUN FACT • I am definitely a morning person, and I love all kinds of des- sert! Chocolate cake, cookies, and especially cupcakes.

REBECCA STOLZ • BA ’06 As a former employee and student, Loyola was (and is) my Chicago extended family—I love Loyolans! Being involved with the LA Rambler Club gives me opportunities to get together with kindred spirits, whether volunteering together on our annual service project, or cheer- ing on the Cubs at Dodger Stadium (I get along well with fellow alumni who are White Sox fans too, because as we know, Jesuits embrace differences).

FUN FACT • For the first time, I am discovering Harry Potter as I read the books to my daughter (who is in kindergarten). We’re waiting to get through all of the books before we see the movies, but I finally am starting to get all of those Hogwarts references and Quidditch jokes!

BEN PIETRZYK • BA ’05, JFRC Fall ’03, Aspin Center Spring ’04, MA ’06

I am excited to provide the space for alumni to come together so- cially, to make new friends, and to help the community we live in.

FUN FACT • In 2012, I founded a monthly DC cigar club with over 35 current and past members.

ELISE TOLLEFSON • BA ’10 The four years I spent at Loyola shaped who I am today. I learned what I love there, and I met my best friends there. I’m not sure I would have gotten to Washing- ton had Loyola not been a part of my story. I jumped at the oppor- tunity to be a part of a Rambler community 700 miles away from Chicago.

Fun fact • I’m the oldest of six kids, so I’m lobbying hard at home for more Tollefson Ramblers!

Dana Almdale

Assistant Director of Alumni Relations and Rambler Club Coordinator

What hopes and goals do you have for Rambler Clubs? • I’m looking for- ward to growing the national Rambler community presence and implement- ing new opportunities of engage- ment throughout the upcoming year. Loyola has some of the most fantastic, selfless, and motivated alumni engaged with the University, so it is very exciting to collaborate with them on identifying what best fits each of their Rambler Clubs. I am also working with other University departments to roll-out new avenues of engagement for our international alumni.

How do Rambler Clubs benefit alumni and friends? • There are many benefits gained from being involved in a local Rambler Club! Building a strong community net- work, both socially and profession- ally; attending Rambler Club events; growing leadership skills; serving as a resource for recent graduates or newly relocated Ramblers; and many more!

What would you say to alumni who are looking to get involved? • Contact me or one of your local club leaders to learn more or to find ways to become involved! The opportuni- ties are endless, and we are always open to new suggestions on what we can provide to our national Rambler communities.

What if there’s no Rambler Club in my city? • Contact me to start the process of identifying resources and/ or other opportunities we can set up for engagement.

What do you do in your spare time? • I am an avid runner and have run numerous half-marathons and the Chicago Marathon, so my non-winter days are usually spent on the lakefront. I am also trying to learn how to cook, which has been an uphill battle for me, and a fire extinguisher is usually within close proximity!

Fun fact? • I played Division I soccer at Illinois State University. It is fun to see my alma mater Redbirds and our Ramblers both competing in the Missouri Valley Conference!
