recently returned home following an eventful, fun-packed week in Washington, D.C. Kynadi, daughter of Trent & Kristen Shelby and Rachel, daughter of Jim & Junita Reeves were the winners of the 2016 Rural Electric Cooperative “Youth Tour Contest”, sponsored by Harmon Electric Association in Hollis, Oklahoma. They were among the approximately 1,500 high school students from across the country who participated in the Rural Electric Youth Tour.

began June 10, 2016 with a “Get Acquainted Banquet” in Oklahoma City. The 69 young winners, representing twenty- fi ve of the state’s rural electric systems, departed for the nation’s Capitol the next morning. One of the highlights of the banquet each year is the announcement of the Youth Leadership Council delegate for Oklahoma. One delegate is picked from all students who choose to interview for the position. This year our own Rachel Reeves was chosen as that delegate, being the fi rst ever Harmon Electric student to win this honor! We are very proud of Rachel, and she is excited to participate in additional activities later this year with other state’s YLC delegates.

When asked about their trip, Kynadi said “In my opinion, the most exciting part of the trip was meeting our state
