Hedge against rising prices


Electricity prices will rise over the next 25 years, according to the EIA*. With TCEC Community Solar, your credit increases if wholesale power costs rise. That’s how you lock in a portion of energy costs through 2041 when you subscribe!


ooking into renewable energy can be confusing for many people. A lot of options are on the market with varied pricing and incentives for each. TCEC will help you make an informed decision regardless of the choice you make for renewable energy. We offer net metering if you choose to install a system at your home and we offer the TCEC Community Solar program.

Community solar, sometimes called ‘shared or cooperative solar’ is often a more affordable choice for members. This is because it is one large solar array installed at TCEC’s headquarters in Hooker. Members don’t have to worry about whether they own or rent, if their roof is shaded or about installation, operation and maintenance.


For $340 per subscription, a one-time cost, members receive a credit on their bill for their share of the energy produced by the solar array for 25 years. Members can purchase multiple


subscriptions to increase the amount of their monthly bill credit. Currently, the credit received is five cents per kilowatt-hour. This could increase slightly over time to help offset rising energy prices.


Purchasing community solar means your are locking in a portion of your energy cost through 2041. It’s a hedge against rising electricity prices because you realize increased savings over time.

The one-time $340 cost helps to cover the fixed costs of your share of the array. This is one of the lowest costs available to participate in community solar because the developer took the tax credit for the array and passed on part of the savings to our members. The developer is Today’s Power, Inc. of Arkansas.

TCEC is moving to an improved software system next month. The new system will streamline workflow processes and provide a better member experience. We appreciate your patience during the transition. Below are some important dates for members.


August 30-September 5


• TCEC will accept checks only as payments from August 30 through September 5.


• Lock box transactions from financial institutions, such as online bill payments, will not go through during this time. Please avoid scheduling them.


• During this time, TCEC will not disconnect accounts on the prepaid Pay As You Go plan so some account balances may have a negative balance when the new system goes live.


September 6 • Starting September 6, the new software system will be in use for billing and member services.


• All phone payments will go through an automated system rather than a live operator. Other payment options


will still be available. To view all payment options, visit www.tcec.coop.


• Members with online account access will need to register for the SmartHub website and mobile app.


• Members will have the option to enroll in text notifications for outages affecting their meter(s).


• Bills will have a new format beginning in September. We’ll include a guide to help you understand your new bill with your new bill.
