EDITOR’SLETTER VOLUME 76, NUMBER 4
Dear Members, I am SO pleased to tell you that we now have
male members. Though the change was official on August 21, we will be feeling the effects of this change for years to come. We’ve been working hard here at National Headquarters to get things updated, revised, switched out, etc. The questions have been coming in fast and furious. We try to answer the big ones on Pages 18-19. In her speech at the Charter Ceremony in
>>No matter how you are
serving veterans, active-duty
military and their families or your communties, don’t forget to TELL US
about it.
Kansas City, National Secretary-Treasurer Jan Owens said it well, “For more than 100 years, our members have been serving our veterans and their families. Here is the great news: That does not change. We continue with our mission tomorrow the same way we did yesterday. We just get to welcome more people into this VFW family.” If you are new to our organization: WELCOME!!! We hope this magazine will inspire the newest
member AND the member who has been with us for much longer. Be encouraged by our Member Spotlight on Page 12, and don’t forget to share My Veteran ideas with us. We feature veterans from every era, of any age, living or deceased. You all joined under someone special to you. Tell us their story! Fostering patriotism is one of the key purposes
of our organization, and one of the ways we show that in our communities is through proper care and disposal of the U.S. Flag. In this magazine, learn more about how to have a Flag Disposal Program, brought to you by this year’s Americanism Ambassador. This is a great way to engage your community. No matter how you are serving veterans,
active-duty military and their families or your communities, don’t forget to TELL US about it! We actually, truly, REALLY want to hear what you are up to. Also, don’t forget to tell your local media. Find a helpful publicity guide on the website to help you get the word out!
