Professional Development Services for Superkids®


Studies have shown that professional development is essential to supporting teachers as they adopt new practices in their classrooms. Schools find that adding our professional development offerings, whether the first year or in subsequent years of an adoption, improves teacher knowledge, results, and satisfaction.


Grades K–2


Complimentary Services


The following services for teachers and administrators are provided at no charge in the first year of a new Superkids K–2 adoption.*


• Implementation Training—Implementation training, by grade level, is provided for all new Superkids teachers and support personnel. These half-day sessions (or 90-minute webinars) prepare teachers to implement the Superkids program.


• What Administrators Need to Know About Primary Reading Instruction and Superkids— This 90-minute session (or webinar) provides an overview of the entire K–2 program. Participants will leave understanding how the neural pathways for reading are formed; what systematic, explicit instruction really means; and the research basis of the Superkids program.


• One-on-One Coaching—In year one, each Superkids teacher receives one visit from coaches who are highly trained primary educators. Classroom visits can include lesson feedback and discussion of topics chosen by the teacher.


*K–2 adoptions with fewer than 10 teachers or in remote locations will receive implementation training via webinar or online videos and support by phone or e-mail.

In addition to the complimentary services in year one of an adoption, we recommend the following services for year one and years two and beyond.


Year One Recommended Package includes • Additional coaching for each Superkids teacher


• Foundations of reading instruction • Best practices seminar or workshop


• Grade-level meetings, exploring such topics as small group instruction, diagnostic teaching, differentiated instruction, and the reading-writing connection


• Advanced teacher portal training


Years Two and Beyond Recommended Package includes • Implementation training for new Superkids teachers


• Administrator training for new administrators • Foundations of reading instruction


• Coaching visits for Superkids teachers (two visits for all new Superkids teachers, one visit for all experienced Superkids teachers)


• “Next steps” training for experienced Superkids teachers, focusing on differentiated instruction and classroom management
