SHOW OPTATEC Focus on Frankfurt

The Optatec international trade fair for optical technologies, components and systems will take place on 7-9 June in Frankfurt. Here we preview some of what will be on display

Acton Optics & Coatings has produced UV beam-turning mirrors, VUV/UV optical filters and AlMgF2

high reflectance coatings since 1961. At Optatec, the company will introduce two new broadband coatings that provide UV reflectivity while maintaining high reflectance up to the mid- infrared.

Since standard silver coatings do not reflect wavelengths well below 450nm, aluminium coatings are often used in the UV. But as aluminium coatings also have drawbacks in reflectivity and absorption, Acton has developed UV-enhanced silver coatings that bridge the gap.

The new #4000 and #4100

silver-based coatings overcome the reflectivity limitation of silver below 450nm, and deliver high levels of broadband reflectivity – typically more than 98 per cent – from 400nm to the mid-infrared. The #4000 coating is tailored to applications that require the highest reflectance in the UV, as well as strong performance in the mid-infrared. The #4100 exhibits strong broadband-UV performance, while maintaining consistent high reflectivity throughout the mid- infrared.

Acton Optics & Coatings will be at booth J66, Hall 3, at the show. www.actonoptics.com

30 ELECTRO OPTICS l JUNE 2016

Avantes will present the AvaSpec-NIR512-2.5-HSC, a new compact high sensitivity near-infrared (NIR) spectrometer. The product is made for NIR measurements up to 2,500nm, where higher resolution or more data points for multivariate modelling is required. Having twice the amount of detector pixels compared to the company’s NIR flagship AvaSpec-NIR256- 2.5-HSC, it offers additional resolution and more data points for demanding applications. Also presented will be a new

UV/Visible spectrometer, the AvaSpec-HSC-1024x58TEC-EVO. Included is the replaceable slit option for optimal flexibility, on- board storage available for more than 90,000 spectra, and a thermoelectrically cooled detector.

Using the new EVO board in this instrument enables USB3 and ethernet communication. This spectrometer is ideal for low light level applications like fluorescence and absorbance, and is also available for OEM applications. Avantes will be at Booth C37,

Berliner Glas will demonstrate a wide range of its products and solutions. This year, one focus lies on customised aspherical lenses and freeform surfaces. SwissOptic, a Berliner Glas company, develops and produces high-precision concave or convex aspheres with diameters ranging

Delta Optical Thin Film will show new solutions for hyperspectral imaging (HSI). HSI has been used for some decades in satellite imaging, air reconnaissance and other price insensitive markets. The advent of alternative approaches makes HSI attractive for volume markets and consumer products,

including cancer detection, precision farming and food testing in supermarkets.

Delta Optical Thin Film offers linear variable bandpass filters (LVBPF) for mid-size and full-frame

imaging sensors. These filters offer high transmission and are fully blocked in the light sensitive wavelength range of silicon-based detectors. The combination of LVBPFs with silicon detectors allows the design of compact, robust and affordable HSI detectors that offer several advantages and benefits. These

include larger aperture and higher transmission

airborne systems. SwissOptic offers the entire

from 12 to 300mm in many different materials, including optical glass, quartz glass, Zerodur, crystalline materials and metals.

One of SwissOptic’s

specialties is the development and production of lightweight structured aspherical mirrors. Lightweight structuring allows a reduction in the weight of larger mirrors by up to 90 per cent, which is a key advantage for

process chain, from system development, optical design, production and coating, to the qualification of entire optical systems, including quality assurance in-house. This enables the company to fulfil orders and customer requirements with speed and flexibility. Berliner Glas group will be at Booth D12, Hall 3. www.berlinerglas.com

Edmund Optics will feature a selection of new products and exciting display demos, showcasing products in action and embedded in applications. The demos will include Dynamic Focus VZM lenses using an internal liquid lens to
