NAVAL ZONE Maritime Agility & Effi ciency
Rooted in a history which connects countries beyond their territorial boundaries, through trade, economic security and prosperity, the role of navies extends far beyond the practicalities of areal sovereignty and warfare, epitomizing the strategic balance of hard and soft power. However, in today’s defence and security environment of joint and unpredictable, short notice operations, navies are adapting to enable the agility and effi ciency required for rapid deployment at sea, while continuing to maintain its more traditional strategic responsibilities.
Whether it’s maintaining a continuous at sea deterrent, launching a carrier strike, tracking submarines, rescuing migrants at sea or supporting other humanitarian operations, the nature of the maritime domain continues to be as technically demanding as it is operationally and strategically. Maritime capability has arguably never been more wide-ranging or complex.
The Naval Theatre seminar programme will delve into the maritime capability challenges for navies and the supplier community.
Topics will include: / Agile navies and interoperability in the Joint space / Carrier and fl eet support
/ The next generation of autonomous mine countermeasures
/ Ballistic missile defence / Rebalancing maritime air support and surveillance / Amphibious forces / Counter-piracy, humanitarian and disaster relief / Maritime border security
