KEMIN LAUNCHES MILLSMART™ PROFIT VALUE CALCULATOR

APP New tool helps customers calculate feed mill profitability improvements Kemin has launched the MillSMART™ Profit Value Calculator to help feed mill professionals easily evaluate the economic returns of incorporating the MillSMART programme into their operations. Th e Mi l lSMART p r o g r amme

preconditioning solution uniformly disperses and penetrates feed, providing a positive impact on feed mill production parameters and significant economic benefits. “We created the MillSMART Profit

Value Calculator to help feed mi l l professionals visualize the economic benefits the MillSMART programme can provide their business,” said Carmen Coetzee, Associate Product Manager for Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health. “With just one click, the tool provides a complete picture of the programme’s collective impact and individual key performance indicators (KPIs), such as feed weight, pellet durability index, energy and throughput.” To use the tool, users simply enter

their feed mill and lab parameters for both a control treatment and MillSMART. The app provides a side-by-side comparison of the net savings and individual KPI savings.

“This is an ideal way to show the

tangible potential MillSMART programme offers feed mill producers,” said KP Philip, President of Kemin Animal Nutrition and Health. “With MillSMART, the feed mill is no longer seen as a cost center, but a tool to optimize the feed value and quality while optimizing feed mill processing productivity.”

NEW APP IMPROVES DATA ACCESS

AND DECISION MAKING Farm Wizard, the Belfast-based developer of innovative farm data management solutions, has launched a new version of its market-leading Milk Manager app which will improve the ease of data access and interpretation to improve effectiveness of decision making on farm. Farmwizard is a leading provider

of agricultural software for the effective management of farm resources across livestock supply chains. They have developed a series of cloud based farm software solutions that can be easily implemented in minutes with no requirement for new software, hardware, or database creation. Milk Manager, first launched in 2004,

provides instant access to full herd records via a smartphone app. All herd details plus calving history can be downloaded from

APHIS in Northern Ireland and BCMS in Great Britain. In addition historical data can be added from milk recording companies and your milking parlour software which greatly reduces the time manually adding data.

Event and treatment data including

details of medicines used can be added to the app immediately at time of use, and is automatically updated to the central data base whenever the app is synchronised with the cloud using 3G or 4G technology, reducing errors and data entry time. The system allows several users of the

app to be operational at any time meaning data can be entered and viewed by various people involved in the management of the herd.

“The Milk Manager App is already

used by over 1000 farmers in the UK, recording activity for in excess of 2,000,000 events annually and the new version has an improved user interface, making data entry and interpretation easier and quicker,” comments Richard Gower, GB Sales Executive with Farm Wizard. “The new version increases the ability

of users to get the most from their data, improving the timeliness of decision making, while still having access to full functionality such as links to BCMS, HUKI to reduce the time spent entering the data required to run an effective herd.”

Advance for laying hens, the feedase is

ADVANCE IS APPROVED BY EU FOR LAYING HENS that Rovabio®

now authorized for all poultry species. The approval was published in the official journal of the EU on February 7th, 2017. Adisseo has revolutionized overall feed digestibility with this new Advance, the only feedase. It improves

the digestibility of all nutrients, including amino acids, phosphorus and calcium, regardless of the type of diet. The efficiency of Rovabio®

Advance is explained by the unique

presence of arabinofuranosidases, important debranching enzymes that work synergistically with xylanases to efficiently break down complex fibre structures in plant cell walls. Robust testing across a variety of diets has already demonstrated

RECOVERING PERFORMANCES WITH REFORMULATED DIETS Three other trials run in France and Mexico confirm the positive effect of the enzyme on laying hens fed with reformulated diets: feed conversion

Advance provides an improvement of 3% in the overall

digestibility in broilers, leading to a consistent improvement of apparent metabolizable energy (AME), digestible amino acids (dAA) and P and Ca availability. For layers, a recent trial(1)

performed in metabolic cages on 477

laying hens confirms the positive effect of the enzyme on energy utilization. Rovabio®

Advance (P = 0.003) improved the AME between 23 and 27 weeks of age by 2.7%.
