NEW SCHOOL GIVEN CASH FOR OUTDOOR PLAY
A new school in Cardiff has been given a £1,000 windfall to help improve its outdoor areas. Pontprennau Primary School, which was built as part of the new housing in the area, has been given the cash by Persimmon Homes. Te school currently has 96 nursery children and 120 children in Reception and Year One classes. Te school will grow each year until it has 516 children on roll aged three to 11. Jordan Dent, of Pontprennau Primary, said: “We are extremely grateful to Persimmon Homes for this generous donation. “Whilst we have a beautiful new building, we are very short of all kinds of resources, from basic through to more specialised equipment as we have extremely limited funding and started from nothing. “Tis money will help us to make improvements to the school’s outdoor areas, which are used at break times and in lesson time.” Te donation comes as part of Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions scheme. Each month, the national housebuilder donates up to £2,000 to community groups and good causes in
every one its 29 regional business. Tat’s a total of almost £700,000 a year. Groups apply for funding by visiting www.
persimmonhomes.com/charity and then it’s down to Persimmon’s managing directors to select their winners. Victoria Williams, sales director at Persimmon Homes East Wales, said: “We’re delighted to be able to hand over this money to Pontprennau Primary School. “We are investing heavily in the area with 1,020 new homes currently being built at our St Edeyrns Village development in Old St Mellons. As a company, we are committed to giving something back to the towns and cities in which we build, and this is another example of that. “We hope that this money makes a difference to the outdoor areas at the school.” St Edeyrns Village has a range of two, three and four bedroom homes on the land adjacent to the M4 and the A48, close to Cardiff Gate Business Park. It’s time for a spring time spruce up, says Allen & Harris
With the housing market seeing a traditional surge in activity over the spring months, local estate agency Allen & Harris is advising homeowners to get their houses in order now if they’re keen to sell. As part of its national network Sequence, Allen & Harris has seen a rise in the number of applicants registering their interest in a property in March compared to February over the past few years, with 27% more in 2015 and a further 8% in 2016. It has also recorded an increase in the number of viewings carried out, with 28% more in March 2015 than the previous month, and 18% more in the same period in 2016. With spring on its way and interest from buyers rising, Matthew Barrett, Area Director at Allen & Harris believes that spring is the most aesthetically pleasing time for potential sellers to get their property on the market: “Longer, lighter days are just around the corner, and with a bit of sunlight, homes will look more attractive. It’s important that
28
sellers use this to their advantage and ensure their homes are looking their best inside and out, ready for the heightened buyer interest and increased numbers of viewings. This will really help when it comes to attracting more buyers and consequently getting the best price possible on your house sale.”
As more sellers look to place their property on the market around the spring period, now is the ideal time to get the ball rolling with regards to selling your home. Matthew adds: “Spring is traditionally known as the busiest time of year for the property market, which means competition from buyers is fierce. With this in mind, we are urging anybody who is thinking of selling their property to get in touch with us and instruct an agent that can ensure maximum exposure for their property.” If you have a property to sell and would like to book a free market appraisal with Allen & Harris, please contact your local branch.
