STEPHENS & GEORGE CENTENARY CHARITABLE TRUST Making our mark
TO MARK OUR ONE HUNDRED YEARS IN BRITISH PRINTING, STEPHENS & GEORGE PRINT GROUP HAS FORMED THE STEPHENS & GEORGE CENTENARY CHARITABLE TRUST
Stephens & George Centenary
This Trust aims to provide training, educational opportunities, voluntary and bursary schemes to young people within the communities of South Wales.
The Trust will become involved in literacy partnerships and will endeavour to work within the most disadvantaged areas including Merthyr Tydfil and the surrounding valleys and develop the communities within these areas.
The Trust aims to increase social awareness, improve lifestyle and create opportunities to increase community participation and promote excellence within the community and provide opportunities to individuals to develop their skills. Stephens & George Centenary Charitable Trust will focus on encouraging young people to better their lives and leave very own legacies within the community.
Mrs Vanessa Jones one of the Trustees said, “S&G has always had an interest in our surrounding area and the local communities. Forming this Trust marks our Company’s Centenary but also makes a statement of S&G’s commitment to helping young people in the area providing them with an opportunity to develop as individuals.”
In order to commemorate this year, all employees have been tasked to raise a sum of money throughout the course of the year with all proceeds going towards the Trust.
Fundraising activities have included holding coffee mornings, fancy dress days, quiz nights and also team challenges. Confirmed team challenges for 2012 include an S&G team taking part in the 2012 Trailwalker, which is a 100 kilometres non-stop walk in under 30 hours. In addition to this an S&G team is tackling the 3 Peaks Challenge which involves scaling the heights of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon in 24 hours.
We hope that friends and clients of S&G Print Group will support our newly formed Trust so that we can try to make a difference and have a positive effect on young people’s lives within our community.
