Editor’s Letter
Well what a month it has been. A flurry of news and updates from the world of skips has made sure there is never a dull moment to be had at Skip Hire Magazine Heights. We bid a fond farewell to Kerry, who has been
acting as editor for the past eight months and we were shortlisted for a prestigious award from the CIWM for our on-going Whack-A-Bin Campaign (more about this on page 6). We have been inundated with news from the skip
world. In our November issue, we told of how we were contacted by Gamble Plant to say they had found an urn containing the ashes of a lady named Gwen in one of their skips. A campaign we were actively involved with followed
and we we’re thrilled to find out that the deceased was finally reunited with her granddaughter after she heard the appeal on the radio, needless to say that is one of our good deeds done and dusted for 2015! Read the follow-up story on page 4. Our features this month come from Ainsley Fraser
who has been busy to say the least. He discusses in detail chains; looking at assembly, components and safety. He also looks at the options for renting, hiring or leasing equipment in the industry and last but certainly not least, additional revenue streams within the waste industry. Our regular contributions look at homeless
persons at risk from sleeping in containers from Compass, keeping on track with continuing competence from WAMITAB, exemption issues from UROC and the 10th anniversary of Enviroman! Also a big thank you to Gayle Whittaker who finished the magazine looking back at the highs and lows of 2015. We also have two pieces this month from Crawford
– one on communication within the sector and a historical piece, which makes for a very interesting read. It seems that we have started to get more content from the skip world regarding years gone by, so if you have any stories you would like to share, feel free to get in touch!
