The first ever purpose-designed and built IRC shorthander. Five sold All-carbon canting-keel racer, with input from Alain Gautier Fast canting-keel off-the-shelf lake racer
Designer Stefan Qviberg’s latest hull form flies in strong winds and is impressively stiff to windward, while her interior reflects Arcona Yachts’ attention to detail and Swedish roots – all handcrafted in farmed Khaya mahogany
Good-looking racer-cruiser with powerful aft chines. Wins in IRC Light, fast and maybe just a little scary mid-sized canting-keeler…
Harry Dunning’s low-freeboard flyer offers a super cool – and cool-looking – way into the growing mid-sized ‘HPR-style’ pure performance arena at a pretty remarkable price. 25 boats have already been built with three more currently on order
These HPR-influenced mid-sized designs are (very) slowly rolling out of the woodwork Pushing the full use of carbon further down the size scale. Displacement just 3,100kg
The latest fruits of the Mills Design/MAT Yachts partnership is this aggressive IRC racer. Relatively light but with plenty of form stability, the prototype won its class on debuting at Hamilton Island. An alluring package for inshore and offshore racing
One-design coastal racer. High-performance – albeit with the après best taken ashore A new Hungarian one-design for match-race competitions
Marcelo Botín enters the ‘HPR style’ market… Good for the designers and similarly good for IRC and HPR. This production-built design takes full advantage of extensive CFD and VPP work with a very slippery hull and appendages package
Left: an open boat like the PCT-built Carkeek 47 is always susceptible to water ingress so PCT came up with an innovative drainage system that keeps the interior both dry and tidy. Grundoom was specified with a lifting keel and so PCT built her a sportsboat gantry on a grander scale – allowing the keel to be lifted manually using the pedestals with a lock-off system once up. The system has proved reliable and also avoids the weight of hydraulics

Another one for the nascent Fast 40+s. Particular attention was paid to developing a hull form that planes downwind easily but that also delivers a competitive performance in light air. The third boat went to the UK for Peter Morton’s strong team
Started life as an HPR design – sweet, unfettered shape At just 4,500kg and with a wide, flat and powerful hull, this is indeed an offshore fun palace
Paul Hakes teamed up with Hudson Yachts in China to deliver this thoroughly foxy-looking flush-deck 42-footer. ORCi and HPR versions are now available with different-length keel fins. Five boats have been sold… Several to Europe
A rapid-looking fusion of good modern styling with a typically competitive hull and rig A wicked-looking all-round, multiple rule 40ft flyer selling at a base price of US$345,000
Lighter in displacement than its race-winning predecessor, the Ker 40+ features a deeper fin as well as an increase in reserve buoyancy forward. A winning Fast 40 in IRC, five boats have been sold to Europe and more look likely
