“It has been a huge amount of work,” says Christian
Reverchon, “but the result is here and we are proud of it!” The Drifting Coaster is not the company's first attempt to
repeat the success of the Spinning Coaster. The firm's Gliding Coaster, first introduced in 2000, features four- seater suspended cars and a relatively gentle ride pattern
(none of your intense inverted coaster thrills here). With just two units produced to date, however, it's hasn’t been a runaway success for the French manufacturer. A little more popular has been the firm's Spinning Raft, which fits the same footprint as the Spinning Coaster and also Reverchon's successful double drop Flume Ride. With many of the latter two attractions already in operation across the world, the somewhat taller Drifting Coaster – marketed by it manufacturer as the Swinging Coaster – could be a shoe-in for any operator willing to up the ante and offer something new. Time will tell how popular it will become, but already Nicolas Reverchon says discussions are ongoing with several potential new operators, including a second German showman and also a park in France.

Those considering a spinning coaster from Reverchon, or already owning one, may be interested to learn about the company’s new special edition six-seater ride vehicle (SC6S), suitable for both ‘XXL’ and classic 'Mouse’ -style track layouts. The car not only provides operators with increased capacity potential, but also a fresh, modern look for passengers. Thanks to the use of high tech materials, it does not weigh any more than the original four-seater Spinning Coaster car – even with passengers on board. To produce the car, Reverchon has partnered with a talented young designer called Camiel Bilsen, who is also currently also working with other ride manufacturers including Intamin.
