The world’s first Space Race from Polin

ocated in the Alacati area of the Çesme peninsula, Oasis Aquapark is not the first waterpark in Izmir, or indeed the first to be supplied by Polin (a few years
total of 10 rides and attractions is Polin's latest major slide innovation: Space Race (pictured above)
ago the company kitted out Aqua Fantasy in Selçuk), but it certainly features one of the freshest selection of slides and attractions. Top of most thrill seekers' lists will be Space Race.
Finished icy hues of blue and white, the geometry is similar to other bowl-type slides on the market, including Polin’s own Space Boat, but that is where the similarities end. The slide pits two four-person family rafts against one other. The rafts enter the bowl from opposite directions at a speed of more than 43km/h (27mph) and race against one another in separate spiral lanes. Teams are encouraged to lean, bend, crouch and tilt in every way possible to give their raft the advantage in increasing their speed to gain an edge over their opponents. Each slide boasts a 218m-long (715ft) path and the attraction's maximum hourly capacity is 480, based on 120 cycles of eight riders (4+4) each. What really adds to the fun of Space Race is that the 20m/65ft-tall slide tower goes through the centre of the attraction, giving waiting riders plenty of chance to whet their appetite as they watch fellow sliders shoot by. all Polin slides, an RTM finish is provided for a shiny on both sides finish, while natural light effects in tube section provide an added element of excitement. Already installed at multiple parks worldwide, Polin's King
Cobra almost needs no introduction. Offering one of the most intense watersliding experiences in the industry, it thrills riders with its double tube sections before dispatching them into the snake's jaws as they rock back and forth on their single or double person tube. Also spread out across Oasis Aquapark's 61.000 square
metres are such slides as a Looping Rocket, Aquatube, Black Hole, Space Hole, freefall, rafting slide, wide slide and body slide. An underwater themed water play structure (type B09) features tipping buckets, slides, net climbs, water cannons and all manner of interactive fun. Kids can also enjoy their own pint-sized attractions including a cobra slide, mini pirate ship, rabbit slide, octopus slide, frog slide and mushroom shower. The park's 12 x 25m wave pool has four air chambers
producing different wave patterns including diamond/double diamond, parallel/half parallel, V/inverted V, and left/right diagonals. Polin also supplied the park's pool and deck coatings. Other suppliers included Gunsu (wave pool, pumps and filtration) and Logo Construction (lockers). Owned and operated by the Çesme municipality in
partnership with thermal tourism specialist Tetusa, Oasis Aquapark will operate from through May to October. Admission is currently available online for the promotional price of 50 TL ($16.40/€14.70). Regular admission is 70/50 TL (over/under 9s). Under threes go free. “Although the park was open for only a very short period
this year, we encountered great interest from visitors,” managing director Aytul Kaymakci tells Park World. “Thanks to the attractive water slides in our park including the Space Race and King Cobra, and the pools, visitors were left happy.”
