• JG Speedfit has appointed Phil Lacey as National Account Manager, strengtheing the account management team. Oliver Horne is Regional Sales Manager for the North West. James Steadman- Young is now Regional Sales Manager, Jim Burge has taken on a technical sales role for East Scotland and David McCullough, is appointed as Area Sales Manager – West Scotland.


• AKW has appointed Andrew Crown as Sales and Marketing Director. Prior to joining AKW, he was managing director at


ATAG Heating Technology Ltd, where he was responsible for launching the business to market.


• Adrian Fishley has been as Interim National Sales Manager for Klober following the departure of MD David Arendell to take up a new position at SIG. Fishley brings more than 30 years’ experience of the pitched roofing sector


• Russell Roof Tiles has appointed Mark Parsons and Adrian Ryding as Technical Director and Technical Manager, respectively. Parsons is the current Chair of the marketing committee for the Roof Tile Association (RTA). Ryding joined Russells in 2013


• Stelrad has appointed Mark Bradley to the role is of Marketing Brand Manager, responsible for the day to day management of a team of 12 Brand Specialists. The company has also appointed Andrew Strickland as Business Development Manager for the South West. He recently joined Stelrad from Daikin UK.


• George Roberts, Jermaine Metz and Graeme Shannon have joined the team at International Timber Roberts joins as Internal Softwood Sales Consultant from Gibbs and Dandy Market Harborough. Metz joins the team as External Graduate Trainee from Palm Beach Atlantic University in Florida.Graeme Shannon is External Sales Representative covering the West Midlands. He previously worked at Snows Timber and has spent all his working life in the timber trade.

10 MINUTES WITH: ANDY PROSSER


National Sales Manager, Buying Groups at ACO Water Management


What is your current role and how long have you been doing it? My current role is National Sales Manager; Buying Groups at ACO Water Management. I was appointed in May 2016 but my experience in sales dates back 30 years.


What does your role entail?


As National Sales Manager I’m responsible for the independent buying group agreements. My main priorities include managing the Account Development team, for both the Urban + Landscape and Civils + Infrastructure business sectors.


How did you get started in this industry I started my career as a pattern making apprentice, and then worked at IG Lintels in the technical department for four and a half years. During my time there, I developed skills in structural engineering, gaining a technical perspective, and from there progressed into sales.


What roles were you doing before? Since working at IG Lintels, I’ve held various sales roles across the building sector, including Field Sales Manager, Key Account Sales Manager, Sales Director and my most recent position, National Sales Manager: Buying Groups.


What would you like to achieve? First and foremost I’d like to do an honest and reliable job. I’d also like to continue to build trust with both my colleagues and customers and have good working relationships. In addition to this I’d like to add value to merchant stockists.


What has been the highlight of your career so far?


The highlight of my career is working and interacting on a daily basis with builder’s merchants, where I have made some excellent contacts some of which I am proud to call friends.


What are the main issues for builders merchants and the construction industry? One of the issues for the construction industry is government regulations on planning permission. It is becoming more  and therefore housing developments are either suspended or take a very long time


to come to fruition. Another issue is the skills shortage; this is not only affecting the construction industry but is having  market, which indirectly impacts the building industry as a whole.


It’s essential we encourage apprentices to join this profession and provide them with a rewarding and enjoyable career. I really do believe it’s an exciting time to be working in the building sector as it is constantly developing. It’s therefore important we maintain our skills base and continue to grow and learn. Since working at ACO it has really opened my eyes up to the importance of training. We have our ACO Academy based on-site in Shefford, where we not only provide training externally, but also internally.


What piece of advice would you give yourself at the beginging of your career? I would tell myself to take time out for training and top up my IT skills and general  I’ve learned is that we should always make time for personal development.


Football, rugby, golf or gardening – what keeps you busy at the weekends? Well, I used to play rugby but now at the weekends I can be found walking the dog or bike riding around the mountains in South Wales. I try to squeeze in as much  going skiing whenever possible. Of course, I’m still a big fan of rugby, so I enjoy supporting my local team, Cwmbran and the Newport Gwent Dragons!

In my spare time I like to read sporting biographies. I love a good gladiator-type  Russell Crowe and you’re on to a winner.


If you could be a superhero what super- power would you choose?


If I were a superhero my power would be to make the world free of illness and wars.
