BUILDERS MERCHANTS JOURNAL
The new website is just part of a raft of measures that NBG is putting in place to further improve its own communication with Partners and Suppliers, and facilitate easy and stress- free interaction between the two sides of the NBG business. Firstly, it is vital that communications are being seen by the right people. NBG suppliers can now manage their own contacts directly within the Hub, to make sure that information is directed to the people who need it. Plus, there is a new feedback system for suppliers to get information from the Partners operating at the coal face back to our suppliers quickly and efficiently. It will improve the timeliness of communication between Partners and suppliers, and support the rapid resolution of any issues in either direction. Finally, there have been improvements made to ensure confidentiality, and to allow Suppliers to load key documents into the well-read

Daily Digest of crucial information which NBG Partners review every day. Oates also focused on sales growth,
“There are huge opportunities for our suppliers and Partners to work more closely together towards a shared goal,” he said. “Areas like joint sales visits, stock profiling, training, promotions and merchandising can all drive mutual benefits and our category management teams can facilitate and support these.” One of the key benefits of being an NBG Partner or Supplier is the
organisation’s spirit of community and the willingness of its members to share best practice. The Supplier Summit was addressed by Aliaxis Sales Director Steve Dunkley who outlined how his organisation has been working with NBG.
Merchant Pages
The final business initiative launched at the Supplier Summit was Merchant Pages a new online product data service developed in partnership with NMBS. Merchant Pages is a brand new information portal on the NBG hub for Suppliers to upload and update product and pricing files to the hub in one operation simply, accurately and speedily. This data can then be accessed and downloaded by all NBG Partners making it the perfect way for suppliers to circulate information on new products and promotions in a hassle-free and timely manner. To ensure suppliers are aware of all the changes and are in a position to take full advantage of the opportunities they present, NBG is holding its first Supplier Forums in January and February. These are targeted mainly at those who are new to working with NBG, and will cover creating sales plans, making the most of the new hub tools, to basic agreement administration. All suppliers are welcome to attend to find out more about working better with NBG and the new initiatives. “We believe that our independent
Merchant Partners are in a great position to take the long term strategic view that is so vital for building branded business,” concludes Oates. “They can develop those key lasting partnerships with suppliers so that building brands can be profitable and mutually beneficial for both sides of the partnership.”
