Mitsubishi Electric has launched the next generation of VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) air conditioning with the new City Multi YNW to off er the market a system that delivers ultra- quiet noise levels, an increased performance and a reduced footprint. The YNW outdoor units include a new, four-sided heat exchanger to maximise space for plant by reducing the area required for air conditioning modules. Improved compressor and fan design help reduce sound, making the YNW one of the quietest VRF systems available on the market. Noise and plant space has become a key issue and the City Multi YNW has been designed to address these challenges whilst meeting energy effi ciency legislation. The City Multi YNW also off ers incremental capacity steps which give increased fl exibility in noise output control. This is enhanced with multiple external static pressure settings up to 80Pa for long or narrow ducting needs. These new models come in capacities from 22-150kW.

AUK Distribution is off ering the new Airwell HDM R32 Wall Mounted Single Split and Multisplit systems.
The Single Split system comes in sizes
from 2.6kW to 7kW for cooling and in 3.4kW to 8.1kW for heating. Meanwhile, the Multisplit system comes in sizes 5kW, 7kW and 8.5kW cooling and 5.7kW, 8.6kW and 9.6kW heating.
In addition to be suited to Monosplit and Multisplit applications, the Airwell HDM R32 Wall Mounted Split systems are extremely quiet in operation and, using R32 refrigerant, have a limited environmental impact.
With a Seasonal Energy Effi ciency Ratio (SEER) higher than 6, the systems are an economical solution in the A++ class. The systems also feature a pure and sleek design and, in addition, off er a digital screen display.

Dean & Wood to keep the industry aware of the changes ahead. Dean & Wood has worked with its supply chain partners to bring market leading products to the fore and as part of this initiative it is now able to off er a new range of packaged condensing units for use with the long term refrigerant solution, C02. Manufactured by SCM Frigo, the Cubo2 Smart inverter driven condensing units are available in both medium and low temperature applications.
Product manager Hayley Billson said: “The F-Gas law is driving our industry full circle back to the 1850s when natural gases were used as refrigerants. Dean & Wood is here to support customers with this mind set change and has partnered with the C02 training specialist Cool Concerns to off er a C02 Cubo2Smart training package to all potential customers.” The condensing units range from 0.6-8kw in medium temperature and 0.7-7kw in low temperature.

Haier has launched an air conditioner under its Casarte brand, using Covestro’s novel continuous fi ber-reinforced thermoplastic (CFRTP) composites. These composites are used to house the air conditioning units, which are designed in the form of two standalone cylinders. CFRTP composites are made from ultrathin,
unidirectional (UD) tapes that are laminated together at specifi c angles to form sheets that can be customized to specifi c performance criteria. The long strands of fi ber are oriented and provide strength in the lengthwise direction of the fi bers. The resulting thin, stiff , and lightweight yet very strong sheets look and sound like metal, but have the fl exiblity of a thermoplastic material. Thanks to its unidirectional carbon texture, CFRTP lends the air conditioner a luxurious metallic eff ect with a sleek and beautiful surface.
Traditionally, composites have been known to be prohibitively costly and often diffi cult to work with. CFRTP changes all this, off ering a modern, cost-eff ective and easy-to-form thermoplastic composite material. For the Casarte design team, it means that for the fi rst time it has been possible to specify a high-performance composite material with unique aesthetics in their range of premium air conditioners.
