POSTCARD FROM MOSTRA Emerson

Emerson will showcased the new series of R32 optimised fi xed speed Copeland compressors designed for chillers, heat pumps, rooftops and all the other air conditioning applications. With a cooling capacity up to 150 kW for a single scroll, this new complete range is developed to meet the demands for high- performing compressors, designed for low GWP refrigerants.

All the new compressors will be equipped with (variable volume ratio) VVR technology, to increase the performance at part load, and consequently, to improve SEER by 5%. These compressors are fi tted with a new Emerson electronic protection module, which provides compressor diagnostic via RS485 Modbus communication.

Emerson is also releasing new variable speed models with brushless permanent magnet motors, designed for R32.

This new line-up with a capacity range up to 60kW can also be used in tandem confi gurations with fi xed speed compressors, for larger system capacities and optimized applied costs, without compromise on effi ciency.

Along with close-coupled Emerson inverter drives, the variable speed compressors deliver a widened modulated speed variation from 15 to 120 Hz.

The scroll capability can be extended and the superheat optimised when a complete Emerson integrated solution is used: the addition of Emerson valves and controllers with proprietary algorithms increases seasonal effi ciency and provides a wider map for heating applications.

Johnson Controls and Johnson Controls Hitachi Air Conditioning exhibited together showcasing new products such as the Set Free Sigma VRF and the York YZ magnetic bearing centrifugal chiller. The chiller is optimised to work with the next generation low global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant R-1233zd(E). Such high energy effi ciency and low GWP off ering solutions provide extra environmental benefi ts and help owners to comply with European F-gas required reductions in CO2

emissions. Also on display were a number of controls systems such as:

 The Verasys Building Control System, a plug-and-play solution for the light commercial market that integrates heating, ventilation, air- conditioning and refrigeration equipment and controls to optimize single-site and multi-site enterprises.

 The Metasys Building Automation System, a fully programmable, intuitively-designed system integrates HVAC, lighting, security and protection systems on a single platform to create intelligent environments.

 PENN, a commercial refrigeration controls system that provides proven, dependable performance for increased reliability and effi ciency over a wide range of temperature and pressure applications.
