From the editor Shining a light

on a critical industry

W

orld Refrigeration day was very different from last year, but no less supported with many organisations holding virtual events in the UK and around the world.

There were certainly differences in the style of celebrating the day, with virtual events necessarily taking over from physical events - webinars and Zoom conferences with largely training topics seemed to dominate the acr bandwidth.

This industry is terribly shy when it comes to promoting itself to the wider world, convinced that others don’t really care, worried that it might be too presumptuous or perhaps in poor taste if it draws attention to itself at a time of crisis.

All around of course, other sectors are screaming ‘look at me’ with no such concerns, especially the technology that we’re relying on both personally and professionally.

So it’s fantastic to see the industry embracing a moment of self- promotion and recognition of the not just important, but critical, part it plays in today’s world.
