manufacturers including Mimaki, Agfa, Zünd, Vivid and Onyx, Kettering-based i-Sub is ideally placed to recommend and install the very best printing solutions for almost every wide-format print requirement, as well as specialist packaging applications. In terms of cutting, the company primarily
relies on Mimaki and Zünd’s expertise. Whilst Zünd’s versatile and robust digital cutting tables are used for sophisticated sample making and fully automated, long-run production, the Mimaki solutions are targeted towards shorter runs. In these instances, i-Sub tends to recommend either the Mimaki CFL-605RT or the Mimaki CF2 as both machines offer performance at an attractive and highly accessible price point. The compact size of the Mimaki CFL-605RT belies its impressive performance, with an ability to provide a wide range of cutting and creasing functions. The perfect tool for packaging, prototyping and short-run production, the CFL- 605RT offers a versatile, multi-function solution, especially when paired with a Mimaki small format LED UV flatbed printer.

With a choice of multiple cutting tools, the CFL605RT is suitable for numerous applications including: packaging samples and prototypes; bespoke presentation boxes; cartons; packaging inlays; membrane panels; foam templates; PoS items, mock-ups and more. With a 610 x 510mm cutting area, its
compact, built-in vacuum unit helps secure material during the cutting process. In addition to the standard cutting tool holders and blades (kiss cut, die cut, tangential and reciprocating) it incorporates a creasing roller for creating fold lines, a pen tool for creating line drawings and ensures accurate cutting with register mark detection function. A powerful and effective plug-in cutting software package is included as standard. Meanwhile, the Mimaki CF2 TC series cuts a wide range of media using a variety of heads and blades. The heads can be equipped with a tangential cutter, reciprocal cutter, marking gauge roller and swivel cutter, depending on the material that needs to be cut. Two machine sizes are available: CF2-0912 (176 x 160 cm) and CF2- 1218 (236 x 190 cm).
The Mimaki CFL-605 The CF2 TC series of machines are bigger and
more industrial than the CFL-605 and are suitable for a broad range of applications including prototyping and short-run production. Regardless of the cutting requirements, i-Sub is
able to offer the best solutions for your business needs.

ama, a specialist in the provision of post-press solutions for short to
medium runs for digital and commercial print and packaging applications, began the new year with a new motto: ‘Maximum added value with a minimum footprint’, and accompanied this with a comprehensive upgrade and re-launch of its compact die- cutting and finishing machine – the new generation ProCut 58. This is said to be the world’s first
die-cutter for digitally printed sheets in the quarter-size format, either conventional or cut to size; it is now available with a new sheet feeder, a modern touch panel and new software. It is also now capable of handling format sizes up to 580 x 400mm, which is 50mm more than before. The new feeder optimises the
paper feed, the suction head is fast and easy to adjust, and the entire feed area is easily accessible. The re-designed
is the result of the growing demand for finished short runs, both for small format printing jobs and folding boxes. With these now being printed digitally more often, the highly flexible ProCut 58 Foil version covers a wide range of finishing applications and processing these short-run orders can prove highly profitable as a result of the fast job changeovers. Important for its application in
folding carton production is the highly precise alignment that can be achieved with the inclusion of the AutoRegister system on the Kama ProCut 58. Even sheets that
are cut after they have been printed – for example sheets that are cut down from B2 to B3 – can be finished with the greatest precision, and a performance of up to 6,000 sheets per hour is achievable. Changeover from die-cutting to
hot foil stamping or back again takes only around 10 minutes. A footprint of only 4.5 square metres (including work space, it is only 10 square metres) provides an added advantage. Kama has already delivered the
first of the new generation ProCut 58 die-cutters to a company in Belgium that produces labels and folding boxes for pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, a market with an increasing demand for short runs and small formats. The new ProCut 58, as well as
ProCut 76 for the half-size format, both with and without the hot foil stamping module, are supplied in the UK and Ireland by Friedheim International, based in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.
