Quick changeover and tight tolerance cutting saves time and materials
D
elta ModTech’s finishing systems are built to minimise make- ready times, and the Spectrum
finishing system is no different. With faster setups and fewer adjustments printers can spend time adding value to their labels, which helps to set companies and their customers apart from the competition. The standard features of the Spectrum are
designed to give you the confidence to meet the ever-changing needs of your customers. And total servo control allows for tight tolerance digital registration that is claimed to be second-to-none. Full rotary, semi-rotary and speciality cutting abilities like carton cutting and under cutting with registration to a kiss-cut, all come standard. The Spectrum’s small footprint takes up less space on your production floor, features shorter web paths and a solid steel construction allowing for tight tolerance die cutting that you can count on. The Spectrum can accommodate just
about any combination of printing technologies your jobs require. You can add new options at any time; Delta’s modular platform is one of the most flexible in the industry and does not require costly rebuilds. When new demands present themselves, process modules can be easily added and removed, no major rebuilds or extensive changeovers are necessary. Small or large upgrades fit seamlessly together to help your machine grow with you. With Delta’s customised modular systems, you can compete in an industry that is rapidly shifting from mass production of static print to smaller custom runs on digital technology. Delta ModTech has developed simple
screens on the Spectrum’s HMI touchscreen for specific types of jobs, so operators do not have to navigate through any irrelevant fields. New job setup is quick and the ability to recall saved products speeds up changeovers. The company can install the machine on your site and train operators to

driven for precise tension control and flexibility; from unwind to rewind and all print and die cut units in between, including the matrix removal unit. Motorised roll lift, URC 2.0 proprietary control system featuring the exclusive Report Management System (RMS), and biometric login offer advanced operation and control. In addition, the Vericut3 features an eficient webpath for reduced set up waste, a motorised capstan, and optimised operating speeds. With sophisticated motion control
technology, Vericut3 delivers accuracy and precision for many off-line applications and processes. The new design significantly reduces material waste through the automated die cutter and flexo unit set up, and addresses the ever-changing inspection rewind requirements to maximise digital workflows, accommodate shorter runs, and reduce costs. A variety of optional processes can be configured into Vericut3 such as lamination, hot and cold foil, screen and coatings.

Manohar Dhugga, Rotoflex director of engineering and service, comments: “We built upon our extensive experience in developing digital finishing machines and re-engineered the Vericut to optimise control and performance at every level. With advanced automation and extreme flexibility to accommodate a wide range of repeat sizes in continuous or semi-rotary mode, Vericut3 is a premium solution for today’s growing finishing requirements.”

lsewhere, Rotoflex confirmed another DSI die cutter/inspection rewinder sale through its local South
African representative, SArepco. The new machine was sold to N&R Labels and was featured in the SArepco stand at the Gapp Print Expo held in Johannesburg in March, along with a VSI slitter rewinder which was also sold to a South African printer. N&R Labels is a label printing company
in Cape Town; due to higher demand for print runs on its Mark Andy 2200 press, the company purchased the DSI ‘Combo’ for precise ofline die cutting of blank labels. Configured to also run in inspection mode with a Unilux LED2000 series inspection strobe light, the DSI provides the flexibility of slitting, rewinding and inspection of finished label rolls as well as die cutting. A compact footprint machine, the
Rotoflex DSI die cutting platform performs with servo-driven accuracy in die cutting and rewinding at speeds up to 1,000 fpm (305 m/min). Standard features include separate servos for capstan stripper and matrix rewind, slitting tension zone, outside supported unwind and rewind shafts and the integrated URC 2.0 control system and eDrive 2.0. These operator- friendly systems provide higher quality output with quick set up and robust operation.
