drupa 2016 Review
EUROGRAV Mike Attard, director export sales at the converting machinery specialist, said that apart from being one of the busiest drupa shows he has been to, this year’s edition was also ‘extremely buoyant’. He described the level of interest around his supplier companies’ stands as “phenomenal”. “As an agent an awful lot of our time was spent prior to the show learning and understanding all the new products our suppliers had developed,” he told Converter. “We managed to secure several orders both for Uteco for flexographic presses in the UK and for Camis in the UK but also Russia, Latin America and Europe.” At the show, Camis unveiled the new SleeveMASTER HD sleeve mounting solution as well as an updated DMTS (Demounter with powered tape applicator), D W Renzmann had its new plate washing machine on show, and Grafikontrol presented the new ProCheck, a defect detection system. Uteco ran the new ultra-compact Onyx XS EB CI flexo press printing with EB inks. Attard continued: “All of our suppliers were busy and certainly
BST ELTROMAT “Our time at drupa this year was amazing,” the company said. “We received very positive feedback from visitors and customers and we generated a record number of sales inquiries. This was our first drupa after the BST and eltromat merger and our expectations were very high. “We had excellent traffic almost every day and our booth was very
effective in presenting our products to existing and new customers - web guiding, 100 per cent inspection, video web inspection, surface inspection, colour measurement, register control, automation, layer and basis weight measurement and workflow. “drupa is the biggest and most important trade fair for printing and
converting. It is a unique opportunity to reach both existing and new customers from all corners of the world; we had customers from more than 40 different countries.”
UNIVERSAL CONVERTING EQUIPMENT - EXPANSION PLANS BROUGHT FORWARD FOLLOWING DRUPA At drupa Universal launched its fast changeover version of its X6 slitting machine. The X6 VT includes a fast loading unwind system and automatic systems for the positioning of the shear and razor knives and for the core positioning and roll unloading. Alan Jones, managing director of Universal, commented: “We decided to launch this at drupa due the worldwide attendance at the show. The feedback we had was extremely positive with existing customers and potential new customers loving the fast setting capability giving the operator more time to handle the finished rolls. “This was the first time we exhibited at drupa so we were not sure what to
expect. We took orders for over £1m of X6 slitter sales plus orders for our CCA automatic core cutter and roll handling equipment. However, we are excited by the feedback that should lead to sales for several years to come. “The final benefit from drupa was the ‘seeing is believing experience’. There is no substitute to walking a potential customer around the machine. Before the show we had plans to expand the business due to growing orders, but we have brought these plans forward.” Read more from Universal on the Converter website.
conventional print solutions were much sought after. It was non-stop until I left on the Friday.”
He added that the global exposure to new clients is one of the main benefits of drupa. “Very few shows hold the appeal to both visitors and exhibitors in the same way,” he said.

OKI EUROPE The company reported: “We had a great time and really felt at home among so much energy, enthusiasm and innovation in the print industry. drupa was really successful for us. We had so many visitors eager to learn about all our products and their features and as a result, we made many new contacts.” OKI had a number of key products on display, with its five-colour printers
(Pro9541 and Pro9542) top of the bill, along with the Pro7411WT and Pro9420WT white toner printers and neon-colour printer (Pro6410 NeonColor). The ColorPainter M-64s was eye-catching with its dramatic, back-lit display materials.
MPS reports rewarding five-day Open House during drupa
MPS opened its doors at its headquarters in Arnhem, The Netherlands between June 1-7, and has reported a rewarding, well-attended event. A private ‘MPS Express’ bus took drupa visitors to Arnhem where they were treated to live demonstrations on the MPS EF multi-substrate, EB label solution and the hybrid flexo/digital EF SYMJET presses, and a factory tour that included a 28-metre long offset combination press - the largest ever built by the company. During the event, MPS received over 150 visitors representing 24 nationalities. Aakon Schüssel, sales and marketing director at MPS, said: “We are pleased to have had the opportunity to welcome so many visitors from all over the world, who took time during drupa to visit our Technology & Expertise Centre in Arnhem. This Open House surpassed all our expectations.”
