Lattice announces first programmable ASSP (pASSP) interface bridge for mobile image sensors and displays

L

attice Semiconductor Corporation, a leading provider of customisable smart connectivity solutions, has announced

the industry’s first Lattice CrossLink programmable bridging device that supports leading protocols for mobile image sensors and displays. Systems with embedded cameras and displays often do not have the right type or number of interfaces, which can be resolved using a bridge. The new CrossLink device combines the flexibility and fast time to market of an FPGA with the power and functional optimisation of an ASSP to create a new product class called programmable ASSP (pASSP). It is the optimal solution for virtual reality headsets, drones, smartphones, tablets, cameras, wearable devices and HMIs. The CrossLink device’s features include the world’s fastest MIPI D-PHY bridging device that delivers up to 4K UHD resolution at 12Gbps bandwidth, it supports popular mobile, camera, display and legacy interfaces such as MIPI D-PHY, MIPI CSI-2, MIPI DSI, MPI DPI, CMOS, and SubLVDS, LVDS and more. It is also the industry’s smallest package size with a 6mm2

he 5th annual MMG Publishing football match was played on the 26th of May at the American Express Community stadium (Home of Brighton & Hove Albion). The match was

sponsored by Digi-Key electronics. Due to the interest of this year’s match, three teams battled it out in front of spectators from the UK electronics industry. To assist the three teams, six ex-professional players joined the games. They were Guy Butters, ex-Spurs, Gillingham, Brighton and Portsmouth player; Adam Hinshelwood, who used to play for Brighton, Aldershot and Wycombe Wanders; Paul Rodgers, who played for Sheffield United, Notts County, Wigan and Brighton; John Byrne, ex- QPR, Millwall, Brighton and Sunderland player; Richard Carpenter, who played for Fulham, Gillingham, Cardiff City

and Brighton; and Darren Freeman who has played for Fulham, Brentford and Brighton. The Sourcing Reds team were the eventual winners who won the penalty shootout and top goal scorer was Ben Brookes from Digi-Key Electronics. The player of the match was awarded to Jake Wilson from 4 Star Electronics who travelled from southern California to play in this annual electronics industry match. Players represented companies such as Yamaichi Connectors, Digi-Key Electronics, 4 Star Electronics, Electronic Temperature Instruments, Cosworth Electronics, Napier Partnership, ECSN, MMG Deutschland, GTK, Jauch Quartz, Photronix, Esprit Electronics and G English.

TT Electronics top executives get on their bikes for charity

T

wo TT Electronics executives are taking part in a charity cycle ride to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. CEO Richard Tyson and CFO Mark Hoad will join the final leg of the company’s charity bike ride, from its Bedlington site in Northumberland to its operation in Lutterworth Leicestershire, that is taking place over the weekend of June 11th.

As if that isn’t enough, together with 15 other team members Richard and Mark then plan to carry on cycling for two more days and visit two further TT Electronics UK sites, Fairford in the Cotswolds and Rogerstone in South Wales - a total of 250 leg breaking miles! TT Electronics’ CEO Richard Tyson said:

6 June 2016

“TT has been a long term supporter of Macmillan and their work has touched a number of our employees and their families. Both Mark and I are very excited to join our team and take part in the ride. We’re hoping for a bumper amount being raised for the charity this year.” Anyone wishing to donate should do so

through JustGiving (www.justgiving.com/fundraising/TTElectro nicsCEO-CFObikeride). TT Electronics will match all monies raised, with these additional funds going to local community projects supported by the four TT sites that the ride links up.

programmable bridging solution with a 300µW sleep mode. It takes the strongest features from ASSPs and FPGAs to deliver the best solution of both worlds. The CrossLink bridge can multiplex, merge and arbitrate between multiple image sensors to a single input. The device can also interface between high-end industrial and popular A/V image sensors with mobile application processors. This is ideal for 360, action, surveillance and DSLR cameras along with drones, augmented reality products and more. It can also convert from MIPI DSI to multiple lanes of CMOS or LVDS interfaces such as <IPI DPI, OpenLDI and propriety interface formats for HMIs, smart displays, smart homes and more.
