Advertorials TFT LCD from Craft Data Ltd
“Bar Type”, “Stretched” or “Letterbox” format TFT LCD are becoming increasingly popular for today’s industrial product designers, specialist distributor Craft Data’s 8.8”, 4:1 aspect ratio panel is no exception. The S88SWX03 measures just 229.66 x 67.5 x 3.5mm making it suitable for a 2U rack, it has a resolution of 1280 x 320 and features a high brightness LED
backlight capable of producing a brightness of 600 cd/m². A high contrast ratio of 1000:1 and wide viewing angles of 150° on the horizontal and 145° on the vertical gives the panel a very good optical performance required for many of today’s industrial products. The panel is equipped with an LVDS interface suitable for interfacing directly to an SBC or alternatively it can be supplied with its own HDMI board solution including the LED backlight driver for quick and easy integration into your application. A P-Cap touch version is also available.

multicolor options SCHURTER expands its MSM Metal Line range with a pushbutton switch capable of multiple illumination possibilities. The illumination provides a homogeneous quality in a ring illuminated style, or complete actuator area illumination. Status indication is possible in 7 different colors in a single product.
The setting of the individual colors is particularly easy to realize by means of the wire connectors, which are conveniently coded. Three flat plug connectors are used to control the colors red, green and blue. By combining several flat plug connectors, the additive colors cyan, magenta, yellow or white can be created.
The new MSM Multicolor family offers the same diameters as the standard ring illuminated version in 19, 22, and 30 mm. The switches with area illumination use a scratch resistant ceramic actuator and have housings with diameters of 19 or 22 mm.
Are your enclosures ready for the summer? Rittal has warned users of manufacturing automation
systems to check that they are prepared for the summer heat and, if necessary, arrange for an inspection of their equipment to check the level of risk. High temperatures are the most common cause of sensitive electrical and electronic components tripping or even failing. A failed electrical device can cause major disruption to production which could cost a company hundreds of thousands of pounds per hour.
The cost of catastrophic equipment failure is even higher, because it means an extended period of downtime while replacement products are sourced and fitted. Jason Swann, Rittal’s Product Manager for Climate advises: “Electrical equipment generates lots of heat.
Add to this the ambient heat from the rising summer temperatures and your enclosure will start to reach a critical point of overheating without sufficiecnt cooling. What would you do if the equipment that manages your production line - your PLCs, drives and controls - failed due to inadequate or inappropriate cooling? Can you afford to take the risk.”
Inverter drives are used within electrical equipment because they are very effective at reducing the amount of energy used – which means lower production costs. Assuming an efficiency of 97%, a 250kW drive can produce up to 7.5kW of heat, much of which is retained inside the enclosure in which it’s installed. Therefore without adequate cooling heat will rise.
The life expectancy of components is hugely affected by excess heat. An electrical component’s life expectancy is reduced by 50% for every 10°C increase in the ambient temperature. So keeping an expensive Inverter drive cool, prelongs its life, reduces the risk of failure and saves you money.

ROLEC technoPLUS Cases now rated IP 69K
for jet wash protection ROLEC technoPLUS pole mounted enclosures are now available with optional IP 69K protection – safeguarding electronics from high pressure and high temperature jet washing.
They are designed for challenging indoor and outdoor locations. Each case features a dedicated bracket for horizontal or vertical mounting on poles and masts.
ROLEC technoPLUS enclosures are rated to IP 66 as standard (IP 67 and IP 69K optional) and moulded from UV stable ASA Luran (UL 94 HB).
Each enclosure is pre-moulded with screw ports for the mounting bracket so no machining is needed. They can be installed ‘lid closed’ to help protect the seal and the electronics.
Retaining straps hold the recessed lid in place if it does need to be opened – useful when the enclosures have to be installed at height or in other difficult locations. Hinged lid trims conceal the fixing screws to deter tampering and provide further protection against the weather.
ROLEC technoPLUS is available in five sizes ranging from 130 x 90 x 70
mm to 270 x 170 x 90 mm. The standard colour is light grey (RAL 7035). Custom colours are available on request.
Prices for technoPLUS start at £27. Accessories include the pole/mast attachment, terminal rails and an internal mounting plate.
Enclosures can be customised with CNC milling and drilling of cutouts; bespoke colours; printing and engraving of legends and logos; EMC shielding; assembly of components.

Evatron Desktops
The ABOX series of desk consoles with inclined operating area are specifically designed for indoor equipment in industrial, medical, data control, test and management applications.
The instrument enclosure is moulded in high quality light grey ABS and can withstand temperatures up to 85ºC.
Housings are made of robust stainless steel for both ring and area illuminated versions.
High seal protection and impact resistance ratings of IP67 and IK07, make the switches particularly suitable for use in equipment subjected to harsh environmental conditions, or applications that require protection from vandalism.
The MSM series provides a moving actuator, which is ideal for use in applications where both status indication and tactile feedback are desired. In addition to the MSM series, as well the MCS series also with a mechanical actuator, SCHURTER's piezoelectric (PSE) and capacitive (CPS) switches include options for multicolor illumination. Through a complete offering, SCHURTER provides various technologies in metal line pushbutton switches for a host of specific applications.
