New Metro Rod (Guildford) Franchisees
Narthan and Moliena Moodley were recently appointed as the new Metro Rod (Guildford) Franchisees. They began trading on the 05th May 2015 and following 2 months, we took time to catch up with them and get an insight into this dynamic couple who are proving to be a successful combination in the entrepreneurial field of drainage.
Narthan and Moliena are historically from South Africa and since 2001 have been permanent residents in the UK and although they have fully integrated themselves into life in the UK, they still have a high level of the SAFA way of life in them. This stems from having a firm understanding of their upbringing in South Africa during a transition of apartheid governance to democracy. One of their strongest traits is a determination to succeed and build a business that is providing a professional and honest service to customers. Narthan and Moliena run the busy franchise whilst supporting 2 children aged 5 and 3.
These individuals bring a wealth of knowledge into our industry with Narthan being a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and Moliena being a Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians. They also bring with them a vast amount of experience from working for high profile companies for a number of years.
We caught up with them following 2 months of trading and their comments were as follows:
How do you feel being part of Metro Rod? “We are officially members of the Metro Rod Family
and feel very proud of being part of an organisation that is embracing change and proactive thinking in order to move the business forward. With this comes challenges and changes that we all need to work together to achieve. We have personally set high goals for ourselves and Guildford. We hope to embrace and enjoy this journey.”
What were the challenges of setting up a new business?
“There are numerous challenges but the key ones that stand out are: planning the start up with appropriate guidance from the Franchisor and a good working relationship with your business bank manager”
What were the challenges of working in the drainage industry?
“Our primary objective is to guarantee our clients a safe, professional & honest service day and night and to achieve this level of service and commitment we need to have a team that is experienced and trained appropriately. We need to invest in these two particular aspects and continuously provide support and guidance during the entire cycle”
