WinCan Web – making survey information directly available to the end user
In the modern construction world it is increasingly unusual for project, design or other information to be delivered in a physical format such as on DVD or on flash drive, it is almost becoming unknown now for paper delivery to be used (unless it is required by Law and lawyers). This is fast becoming the same in the pipeline survey arena where clients are looking to get inspection reports almost the minute the survey has been completed.
For many years now WinCan has provided what has become recognised as the industry standard survey reporting system and over time this too has evolved from printed reports and video tape, to the world of digital with CD and DVD delivery. Then as storage became larger and cheaper the reporting moved to hard drives and USB memory sticks. This has always of course required a physical delivery of the report independent of the format of presentation and this always involves time effort and ultimately cost.
WINCAN WEB
As with the arrival of previous ‘evolutionary steps’ WinCan is once again looking to get ahead of the game with the introduction of WinCan Web.
WinCan Web is a cloud delivery and storage solution for CCTV inspection data collected using WinCan reporting software. With WinCan Web CCTV survey reporting has moved on, in fact it has moved on-line! It is now possible to deliver CCTV pipeline inspection data over the internet using a dedicated cloud based server. Once a pipeline section or full pipeline survey has been completed all the operator needs is an internet connection to upload the data collected to WinCan Web.
The process has been designed to be easy so as to minimise the time required for the transfer of the data. This not only means that more time on site can be dedicated to the survey itself but also reduces the ‘off-survey’ time required to handle the data process.
All the operator has to do is simply select the project that is to be uploaded, or if an ongoing survey, updated, and send it to the cloud. The data is quickly processed to allow it to be published to the client.
A project link can be sent to the client by email or for larger customers or ongoing contracts an account can be created where the client can access all their company’s surveys online instantly from any device and/or location.
Once the account is up and running or the project link arrives at the client, a simple click opens the project allowing client engineers and managers to review pictures, the full survey video, print reports and even download the project in its entirety to allow storage of a locally-held, off-line copy.
WinCan Web is designed so that data is securely held and, as importantly, securely backed up giving the survey contractor and customer peace of mind and security of what can be sensitive and vital data for the ongoing business of their companies. The complete absence of any need for a physical delivery of the project information means that the turnaround of the survey results from site to report delivery is almost no time at all ensuring efficient and cost-effective use of both the survey contractor’s time in the field and client’s office/engineers data access and therefore ongoing planning works.
