Fifth Third Bancorp has brought onboard Melissa Stevens, the former Global Digital Head for Citigroup’s consumer banking business, as Senior VP, Chief Digital Officer and Head of Omnichannel Banking, a newly created role.

Stevens most recently served as MD and COO for Citi FinTech, a unit focusing on smartphone-centric strategies. She was also the head of the bank’s Consumer Innovation Labs. Prior to that, she was Global Consumer Digital Banking Head with responsibility for all digital properties and apps in Citi’s markets throughout North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia.
The Post-Trade Distributed Ledger (PTDL) Group, which consists of banks, clearing houses and exchanges, has announced the appointment of three external advisers. Ernst & Young (EY) will provide general consultancy around Blockchain and distributed ledger technology, Norton Rose Fulbright will advise on legal and regulatory issues affecting PTDL Group and Citigate Dewe Rogerson will assist with PR activity.
37 post-trade financial institutions and market infrastructure companies are also now members. PTDL has also announced that its organising committee will be made up of representatives from CME Group, State Street, HSBC, UniCredit, Euroclear and London Stock Exchange Group.
Standard Chartered Bank has
announced the appointment of Cheri McGuire as CISO. She joins from Symantec Corporation, where she was Vice President of Global Government Affairs and Cyber Security Policy. McGuire was responsible for Symantec’s public policy agenda and government partnership strategy, which includes cyber security, data integrity, critical infrastructure protection, and privacy. Prior to joining Symantec, she was Director for Critical Infrastructure and Cyber Security in Microsoft’s Trustworthy Computing Group.
The Hyperledger Project, the developer of an open standard for distributed ledgers that’s backed by the likes of IBM and J.P. Morgan, has a new leader. Brian Behlendorf has joined as Executive Director. He was a primary developer of the Apache Web server, and a founding member of the Apache Software Foundation, and has also served on the board of the Mozilla Foundation since 2003 and the Electronic Frontier Foundation since 2013.
“Brian’s contributions to open source software changed the web. Now he will do the same thing for this decade’s most promising technology — the blockchain,” says Jim Zemlin, Executive Director at The Linux Foundation, which oversees the Hyperledger Project. “Brian’s open source roots and proven technology acumen will enable the project to grow a community that transcends any individual industry and becomes the world’s standard for shared ledgers.”
